Usman Khawaja said their Test series win over Pakistan last month shows how well balanced the side are and they will return to the subcontinent for a two-Test tour of Sri Lanka in June and July confident of getting a result. After Scotland reached the second stage of the T20 World Cup in October and November last year in the UAE and Oman there was a real sense of excitement about where this group of players could go in that format of the game and in 50-over cricket.
Gujarat Titans (GT) have enjoyed a strong start to their debut season in the Indian Premier League (IPL), winning both of their games so far. The Hardik Pandya-led side has managed to get their combinations right in both, batting and bowling department. Shubman Gill has stepped up with the bat at the top of the order, while skipper Hardik, spinner Rashid Khan, and star pacer Mohammed Shami have ticked all the boxes so far.
Dwaine Pretorius, who bought by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the mega auction, has started well in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. The pacer is in his debut IPL season and has represented CSK in two matches. In a recent training session, the South African brought his son along, who became the centre of attraction during the practice session. CSK posted highlights from Pretorius' son's visit to CSK training and captioned it as, "Simba Hanlu's day out! Super Dad Dwaine and the lil cub bonding at the nets! #WhistlePodu #Yellove"
Mumbai Indians failed to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2021, finishing fifth after the league stage and their bid to bounce back from that disappointment has not started well. Following the merry-go-round of players post the IPL mega auction, Mumbai Indians would have been hoping to hit the ground running in IPL 2022. But it has been a disastrous start for Rohit Sharma and his team, having lost all their three matches so far this season. Their latest loss to Kolkata Knight Riders means MI are among three teams -- defending champions Chennai Super Kings and SunRisers Hyderabad being the others -- not to open their account in IPL 2022.
Former Pakistan paceman Shoaib Akhtar was a fan favourite wherever he went. Although he had a lot of fiery battles with Indian cricketers during his heydays, Akhtar was cheered by cricket fans when he played for Kolkata Knight Riders in the initial years of the Indian Premier League. Akhtar was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise and he recently shared a funny anecdote from a match between KKR and Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in IPL 2008.
Yuzvendra Chahal is enjoying a great run with his new franchise in the Indian Premier League. Playing for the Rajasthan Royals, the leg-spinner has managed to keep it tidy and he has taken wickets at regular intervals as well. Currently, he has seven wickets in three matches for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022 and he would hope to continue his good showing. Off the field, Chahal is a character and a much-loved figure in the dressing room thanks to his easy going attitude. However, during his stint with Mumbai Indians in 2013, Chahal had to deal with an unsavoury incident when a player got drunk.
