England wicketkeeper-batter Sam Billings was picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2022 mega auction for Rs 2 crore and he has proved his worth in the ongoing season by making valuable contributions. In the last game against Mumbai Indians, Billings produced a quickfire stumping to send back the dangerous Dewald Brevis, and chipped in with the bat with a knock of 25 runs. Having represented Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals in the IPL previously, KKR is the England batter's third franchise in the cash-rich league. Speaking to NDTV, Billings opened up on how it has been to represent the two-time IPL champions and in what ways, CSK and KKR are similar to each other.
Rahul Tewatia and Gujarat Titans pulled off a heist to break Punjab Kings hearts at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Friday night. Needing 12 off the final two balls, Tewatia did the unthinkable by smashing consecutive sixes to give his team a memorable win in IPL 2022. Tewatia is making a habit of doing the impossible and his late heroics catapulted Gujarat Titans to second in the IPL points table, same points as table-toppers Kolkata Knight Riders, who have played a game more. Gujarat Titans on Friday beat Punjab Kings in a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match that saw Rahul Tewatia smash two sixes off the last two deliveries to win the match for his team after Shubman Gill anchored the chase with his brilliant knock of 96. Earlier, Liam Livingstone blitzed 64 off 27 deliveries, while Rahul Chahar hit 22 off 14 to give Punjab Kings a much needed flourish at the death to finish at 189/9. However, Gill then dominated with the bat to ensure GT stayed on track in their chase. He posted his highest T20 score, bettering the 84 he hit in the last game. Hardik Pandya chipped in with 27 off 18 after a knock of 35 off 20 from debutant Sai Sudharshan. But it was Tewatia who saw them home, with the team needing 12 off two deliveries, as he smashed Odean Smith for two maximums.
