Kolkata Knight Riders are enduring a torrid time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) but skipper Shreyas Iyer on Tuesday expressed optimism for a turnaround, saying the former champions would be "unstoppable as a team" once they get into their groove. KKR have lost five out of eight games, including four on the trot, and are currently placed eighth in the 10-team table. "We got off to a really good start with three wins out of four games but after that things didn't go pretty well for us but I still believe in the team," Iyer told the official website of the team.
Hardik Pandya's recurring injuries, and subsequent slow recovery, had left him only half the player that he once was in the last one year. After the allrounder's inability to bowl due to injury in the 2021 T20 World Cup cost Indian cricket team dear, Pandya was dropped from the national team. However, in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Pandya - the bowler - made a comeback. He bowled in the first five matches before a groin injury forced him to miss a game against Chennai Super Kings.
Since its inception in 2008, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has gone on to become the biggest T20 franchise competition in the world. Cricket stars from other countries have graced the IPL, except for Pakistan, who only participated in the tournament's first season. Players from Pakistan have not been allowed to play in the league post the 26/11 terrorist attacks in November 2008. Former Pakistan all-rounder Yasir Arafat recently revealed that even he was expected to participate in IPL 2009 as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner Shah Rukh Khan personally offered him a contract to join his franchise. Speaking on the YouTube channel Cricket Den, Arafat said, "Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had shortlisted names for the first edition and unfortunately, I was not among them and couldn't play"

Delhi Capitals power hitter Rovman Powell was hoping that the controversial third delivery of the final over against Rajasthan Royals be called a no-ball for height as he felt confident to smash six sixes in a row. The West Indian, however, wants to concentrate on the games ahead rather than think about the past. Needing 36 runs for a win off the final over, Powell hit three successive sixes from the first three deliveries, including the third ball which was a hip-high full-toss from Obed McCoy, to bring the equation down to 18 runs from the final three balls.
The two former Australian cricketers were close friends when both started playing for their country but as Symonds' career came to an end, Clarke's profile exploded and he was eventually named captain.
