Indian cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma slammed a powerful shot straight down the ground that ended up making on-field umpire Chris Gaffaney run for cover during the Champions Trophy 2025 encounter against Australia in Dubai on Tuesday. Rohit looked in good touch against the Australia fast bowlers and on the final ball of the sixth over, he produced a brilliant shot straight down the ground off the bowling of Nathan Ellis. The shot came directly towards umpire Gaffaney who jumped to one side in order to avoid getting hit and the commentators were left amused by his reaction. Even Rohit could not help but smile at the incident and his reaction has gone viral on social media.
The first semi-final of Champions Trophy 2025 between India and Australia in Dubai witnessed a bizarre moment. Australia skipper Steve Smith won the toss and opted to bat first. Australia got off to a good start with Travis Head comfortably dealing in boundaries. India got their first breakthrough in the form of Cooper Connolly, who was dismissed by Mohammed Shami for duck. Indian cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli were left fuming by Kuldeep Yadav during the Champions Trophy 2025 encounter against Australia in Dubai on Tuesday. During the 32nd over of the Australian innings, Steve Smith played the ball to Virat at mid-wicket and took a single off Kuldeep's bowling. The star batter collected the batter quickly and unleashed a hard throw towards the bowler but Kuldeep decided to move away from its direction. Rohit, who was fielding at cover, collected the throw but he was not happy with Kuldeep's lack of effort. Both Virat and Rohit were visibly angry with the spinner and they launched an angry rant which has gone viral on social media.
Travis Head looked in tremendous form but the in-form Australia batter was dismissed for 39 by Indian cricket team spinner Varun Chakravarthy during the Champions Trophy 2025 semifinal in Dubai on Tuesday. Head received a mammoth lifeline in the first over of the match after Shami failed to hold on to a catch off his own bowling. The left-handed batter made India pay for the dropped catch as he attacked the bowlers and provided Australia with a solid start. However, the introduction of mystery spinner Chakravarthy did the trick for India as Head completely miscued his shot and was caught by Shubman Gill in the deep. It was a huge wicket for India as they were struggling to keep the runs in check and the reaction of skipper Rohit Sharma and wicket-keeper KL Rahul has gone viral on social media.
