Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu started off her Indonesia Masters 2022 campaign with a win over Denmark's Line Christophersen in the first round of women's singles category at Jakarta on Wednesday. Playing at court 1, Sindhu defeated her Danish counterpart by a margin of 18-21, 21-15, 21-11. The match did not start well for the Indian as Sindhu lost the first game by the margin of 18-21. Sindhu bounced back in the next two games, winning them comfortably by margin of 21-15, 21-11.
Pakistan's star paceman Shaheen Shah Afridi started the ODI series against West Indies in remarkable fashion as he took a spectacular reflex catch off his own bowling to give the hosts the breakthrough in the first ODI at Multan. Afridi reacted sharply after West Indies opener Kyle Mayers hit a half-volley straight back at him.
KL Rahul was on Wednesday ruled out of the five-match T20 International series against South Africa owing to a right groin injury. "Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav will also miss out the T20 series after getting hit on his right hand while batting in the nets on Tuesday evening," a BCCI statement read. "The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant as captain and Hardik Pandya as vice-captain for the home series against South Africa," the statement further read.
KL Rahul, who was supposed to lead India in the upcoming five-match T20I series against South Africa, has been ruled out due to an injury, BCCI informed through a tweet on Wednesday. Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav has also been ruled out of the series owing to injury. Wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant is going to lead India in the series now. Hardik Pandya has been appointed vice-captain.

The visitors eased to 134-0 in 14 overs, chasing just 129 for victory, after a penetrative Josh Hazlewood spell restricted the hosts to 128 all out in 19.3 overs. Australia, the reigning champions, are warming up for the 2022 T20 World Cup to be held on home soil later this year. Earlier, Australia skipper Finch won the toss and asked Sri Lanka to bat first in rain-hit Colombo. Warner hit nine fours in his unbeaten 44-ball 70 while Finch finished with a 40-ball 61 not out with four fours and four sixes. Warner and Finch hammered 59 runs in the first six overs and attacked key Sri Lankan bowlers Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana, who bowled six wicketless overs for 52 runs between them.
