India overcame a stiff challenge from New Zealand in the final of the 2025 Champions Trophy and defeated their ICC-tournament nemesis by four wickets in a thriller at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday night. The spin quartet were the heroes for India in the evening with the wrist spinners – Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy - causing severe damage to the top order while Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel choked the flow of runs in the middle overs. Skipper Rohit Sharma led the way with his aggressive template in the powerplay while Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul maintained a cool and calm head in tense moments in the run-chase.

Rohit Sharma gave a big statement after India's Champions Trophy 2025 triumph clearing the air on his future in ODIs. "I am not going to retire from this format. Just to make sure no rumours are spread moving forward. Koi future plan hai nahi, jo chal raha hai chalega (there is no future plan, whatever is going on will continue as it is)," Rohit Sharma said. "There is a lot of hunger even in guys who have played a lot of cricket and it rubs down on even the younger players. We have five to six players who are real stalwarts. It makes the job easier for all of us." That statement assured all that he is not going anywhere soon.
Former cricketer Yograj Singh was delighted with India captain Rohit Sharma's decision to continue with his cricketing journey and put his decision to retire for some other day. Speculations and reports pointed towards the Champions Trophy final between India and New Zealand in Dubai, the platform for Rohit's last dance in the ODIs. He broke the spine of New Zealand's 251-run target defence with his swashbuckling 76 and laid the foundation for India, lifting the title in front of a sold-out crowd in Dubai. After India experienced euphoria and relished in its four-wicket win against the Kiwis, Rohit addressed the media and confirmed he is "not going to retire from this format."
