Mumbai Cricket Association To Have Contracts For First-Class Players: Report

In a move that would please the first-class cricketers, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has in-principle agreed to have contracts for them. "This decision was taken at the recent Apex Council meeting and it will be the same like the way BCCI has it. The modalities will be worked out by the Association's Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC)," a senior MCA official said.

CAB grants NOC to Wriddhiman Saha

Wriddhiman Saha on Saturday was granted the NOC (No Objection Certificate) by Cricket Association of Bengal, ending his 15-year association, which ended under acrimonious circumstances. Saha, a veteran of 40 Tests, who will turn 38 in October, was categorically told by Indian team management that they don't want an aged second wicketkeeper. Since then Saha had been critical of BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and also at the beginning didn't have charitable things to say about head coach Dravid.

"That Will Be His Great Legacy": Former England Captain On Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli is going through a lean patch off late and he has failed to score a century in international cricket since November 2019. In the ongoing rescheduled fifth Test against England, Kohli was dismissed for 11 by Matthew Potts in the first innings. However, the right-handed batter has won a lot of applause for driving the India Test team and how he successfully managed to lead them. Former England captain Michael Atherton on Saturday talked about what would be the great legacy of Kohli and how he hopes that the Indian batter rediscovers his "best form".

SL vs AUS: Australia's Travis Head Eyes Bigger Bowling Role In Second Test

Batter Travis Head said his off-spin is going to be worked into Australia's strategy for the second Test against Sri Lanka after he bagged an unlikely four wickets in the series opener. Head, a left-hand batter and an occasional bowler, returned figures of 4-10 to match lead spinner Nathan Lyon's second innings wicket haul in Friday's three-day thrashing of the hosts at Galle. The middle-order batter was only declared fit just ahead of the first Test after he missed the fifth one-day international due to a hamstring injury.

Budding Bengal Cricketers Set For English Communication "Training"

Budding Bengal cricketers are all set for an English makeover. Under a partnership, British Council will train them to develop their verbal communication skills and etiquette. The move comes at a time when young Indian cricketers are increasingly getting exposed to international players and coaches with growing number of leagues in the country and across the world. Cricket Association of Bengal president Avishek Dalmiya hopes the collaboration with British Council will empower young players from the state "both on and off-the-field".
