Lanka Premier League To Be Played From December 6 To 23

The postponed Lanka Premier League (LPL) will now be held from December 6 to 23, the organisers have announced. The T20 League which was originally slated to be played from August 1 to 21, had been rescheduled last month due to the economic crisis engulfing the island nation. The league's promoters, IPG, also confirmed the news on Twitter. "It's my pleasure to announce that the LPL will be held from 6th to 23rd December," LPL tournament organiser Samantha Dodanwela was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.

"A Big Name, But If I Go Into Stats...": Former Pakistan Cricketer's Criticism Of MS Dhoni's Wicketkeeping

Ex-Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has taken a dig at former India skipper MS Dhoni over the latter's wicketkeeping skills. Latif, who himself was a wicketkeeper-batter during his playing days, used stats to put forward his views. He said that Dhoni dropped around 21 per cent of his catches which is a "huge" number. It is worth noting that Dhoni registered 256 catches and 38 stumpings in Test cricket, 321 catches and 123 stumpings in ODIs and 57 catches and 34 stumpings in T20Is. However, Rashid feels that one should also pay attention to the number of chances missed by a wicketkeeper.

"Want To Create Our Bench Strength": Rohit Sharma On India's Squad Rotation

With cricket being played round the year, India captain Rohit Sharma feels having a solid bench strength is paramount, and the team is striving to build one with an eye on the future. Since their shock group-stage elimination in the last T20 World Cup, India have been experimenting with their squads, with injury and workload management also playing a part in it. "We play lot of cricket, so there will be injuries and workload management, so we have to rotate players," Rohit said on Star Sports show 'Follow the Blues'.

Watch: Sam Billings Takes A Stunner To Dismiss Dean Elgar During England A vs South Africa Practice Match

Sam Billings took a stunning catch on Tuesday during England A's ongoing practice match against South Africa at St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury. On the first day of the four-day contest, England pacer Craig Overton bowled a back-of-a-length delivery to South Africa skipper Dean Elgar and the latter edged it while trying to play his shot on the front foot. The ball flew between wicketkeeper Billings and the first slip, and was dying down before the former put a quick dive to his left and grabbed it before it touched the ground.

Trent Boult released from New Zealand contract, wants to spend more time at home

Trent Boult was released from his central contract with New Zealand Cricket (NZC) at his own request on Wednesday so he can spend less time travelling and more time at home with his family. The 33-year-old, who has played 70 Tests and 137 limited-overs internationals since 2011, will continue to play for his country but have a "significantly reduced role", NZC said. "This has been a really tough decision for me ... playing cricket for my country was a childhood dream and I'm so proud of everything I've been able to achieve," Boult said in an NZC statement. "Ultimately this decision is about my wife Gert and our three young boys. Family has always been the biggest motivator for me and I feel comfortable with putting it first and preparing ourselves for life after cricket." Boult and Tim Southee have been one of the most feared strike partnerships in international cricket over the last decade, helping New Zealand to the inaugural World Test Championship title last year and the finals of the last two 50-overs World Cups. The left-arm quick has taken 317 Test wickets, 169 in ODIs and a further 62 in T20Is.
