India legend Sachin Tendulkar is among the active cricket personalities on social media. He uses his accounts across the various platforms to keep his fans updated about his life. Tendulkar, who played for India from 1989 to 2013, is one of the most followed sportspersons across the globe. He too understands his responsibilities well and also uses the platform to make people aware about various things, guide them, and sometimes even shares videos and pictures of his cooking and other activities. On the occasion of Friendship Day on Sunday, Tendulkar took to Instagram to share an old picture of his with friends.
India captain Rohit Sharma received a grand welcome from his fans during his appearance at an event in the United States of America. Rohit, who is rested for the ongoing T20I series against West Indies, was mobbed by fans as he came out of his car to attend an event in Milpitas, California. The star batter clicked pictures and greeted the fans, before the security escorted him inside. The viral video was shared by a San Francisco based guy, Jeeven Santhosh, on Twitter.
Indian batters are known for their ability to tackle spinners, something which has been missing of late, according to former Pakistan captain Salman Butt. Following India's defeat to West Indies in the first T20I, Butt urged the team management to address the issue. The visitors won the ODI series 2-1 last week, but lost the T20I opener in the absence of senior pros like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Butt feels that the current crop of players have not been able to cement their supremacy, when it comes to tackling spinners.
Nicholas Pooran looked in top form as he slammed 41 off just 34 deliveries in the first T20I encounter between India and West Indies in Tarouba. He came into the match on the back of a successful Major Cricket League (MLC) campaign and he looked quite comfortable against the Indian bowling attack. The action now shifts to Providence Stadium in Guyana - a ground where Pooran has been quite successful in the past couple of games. In the last ODI he played at this venue, Pooran scored 73 against Bangladesh in 2022. During the same tour, West Indies face Bangladesh in a T20I match in Guyana and Pooran was once again the star as he scored 74 off 39 balls with five four and five sixes. India trail 0-1 in the five-match series and if the trend continues, Pooran can prove to be a major problem for the visitors.
The Emerging Asia Cup final between India A and Pakistan A attracted fans' attention from all over the globe. While it was the Indian team that headed into the title-decider as favourites, the Pakistani team emerged triumphant by 128 runs. Since the conclusion of the match, there's been plenty of chatter about the quality of the two sides. In fact, Pakistan A skipper Mohammad Haris even expressed his views on some of the chatter on the topic, slamming those saying India had sent their junior team to the event while Pakistani players had international experience.
Athletic Bilbao manager Ernesto Valverde has hinted his side will treat this afternoon's friendly like a competitive game as they prepare for a challenging start to their new season.
As Team India look to level the five-match T20I series against West Indies, former batter Wasim Jaffer wants visitors to include Yashasvi Jaiswal in the XI for the second ODI at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. Jaffer also raised concerns over Ishan Kishan's form in the shortest format, pointing out that the wicketkeeper-batter hasn't scored a 50 in his last 15 innings. While highlighting Jaiswal's recent form, Jaffer wants the management to replace him with Kishan in the playing XI.
