With Indian Women's Cricket Team Set To Play Only Two Tests In 2023-24, Captain Harmanpreet Kaur Wants More Matches

Fresh from a tour of Bangladesh, Indian women's cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur has opined that the side should get to play more Test matches as well as domestic red-ball fixtures. In the current Future Tours Programme (FTP) cycle that goes on from 2022-25, Indian women's team will play the fewest Test matches among the four sides competing in the longest format. "This year we have two Tests - one against England and one against Australia - and I hope those games can make a huge impact on women's cricket and hopefully in the future we will keep getting more Test matches.

"Unfair...": On Reports Of BCCI's 'Cooling-off Period' For Retired Stars, T20 World Cup Winner Reacts

One of the BCCI's most debated decisions is not allow active Indian cricketers in overseas leagues. Retired Indian players though can play in overseas leagues. The BCCI has been mulling a cooling-off period which would prevent players from joining overseas leagues right after their retirement. However, no decision has been taken yet. A cooling-off period for retired Indian cricketers who want to play in overseas T20 leagues would be "uncomfortable and unfair", reckons former India international Robin Uthappa. Uthappa, who retired from international and IPL cricket last year, was recently part of the T10 league in Zimbabwe. He also took part in the ILT20 in the UAE.
