India seamer Jaydev Unadkat and spinner Jayant Yadav made impressive debuts in the English County circuit, taking five-wicket hauls for Sussex and Middlesex respectively. Unadkat, who could be back in contention for selection in the Indian Test side later this year for the tour of South Africa, took an overall nine wickets for Sussex against Leicestershire to help them win by just 15 runs in a Division Two match.

Legendary football coach Arsene Wenger believes "cooperation" and "strong desire" between FIFA and AIFF will be key to the success of a central academy in India, for which he would visit the country next month. Wenger, who met with All India Football Federation president Kalyan Chaubey and secretary general Shaji Prabhakaran last month in Australia to finalise setting up the academy, expressed he was "very optimistic" after the meeting.

Former India batter Gautam Gambhir feels KL Rahul has cemented his place in the team as the first-choice wicketkeeper for this year's 50-over World Cup on home soil. Rahul, who was out of action since May due to a hamstring injury, returned to action during the Asia Cup Super 4 clash against Pakistan. However, Rahul proved his doubters wrong, smashing an unbeaten century on his return as India demolished Pakistan in a rain-hit match, which finished on the reserve day.
Legendary Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan said that Indian cricket is in good shape because of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which has given the country a lot of cricketing talent. Muralitharan in an exclusive conversation with ANI talked about cricket, Sri Lanka, the movie '800', an upcoming Indian Tamil language biopic on him etc. "It (IPL) has given players something to look forward to. It has given them a lot of money and opportunities. IPL has given a lot of talent to India as well. There are so many talented players. Now, like the IPL, many leagues like the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) have started. Players from here get selected to play IPL as well. Indian cricket is in good shape because of IPL," said Muralitharan.
