Moutet smashes racket in front of jeering crowd as injury ends Madrid run

DUBAI: Corentin Moutet was booed off the court after smashing his racket and retiring midway through the second set of his first-round match against fellow Frenchman Harold Mayot at the Madrid Open. Trailing 3-6, 2-3 on Wednesday, Moutet smashed his racket in frustration after losing a point. He walked to his chair to get a new one but, after what seemed like an exchange of words with the jeering crowd, headed to the umpire to signal his retirement. The 26-year-old later said on X that he had been struggling with a lingering back injury throughout the match. “I went to do an MRI directly after my match I’m still waiting for the result,” Moutet wrote on X after the match.

India Stars To Play In The Hundred? Report Highlights At "Aligning Interests" Factor

The England and Wales Cricket Board should bring on board the BCCI as a "minority ownership partner" of The Hundred in order to attract Indian players to the tournament, Lancashire CEO Daniel Gidney has said, according to a report. Even though Indian men's players are not issued 'No Objection Certificates' to play outside the IPL, the T20 league owners have expanded their footprint across the globe, and have stakes in SA20 (South Africa), ILT20 (UAE) and Major League Cricket (USA). According to ESPNCricinfo, Gidney believes "aligning interests" would be the way to bring Indian players to compete in The Hundred.

IPL 2025 Mid-Season Review: Batters Continue To Dominate, Rise Of The Underachievers And No Home Advantage

It is deja vu. The carnage has continued. The mayhem in the powerplay hasn't stopped. It is raining fours and sixes. Yes, IPL 2025 has mirrored the previous edition and batters have only taken their domination to a level higher this season. It is the same annihilation - only the annihilators have somewhat changed! While Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals led the mini-revolution last year, this time around the assault has been led by Punjab Kings.

"Made Rest Of The Team...": CSK Great Sums Up Rohit Sharma's Class

Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden lauded Rohit Sharma's "well-measured" knock of 70 against Sunrisers Hyderabad and said the opener's innings had "vision, stability, and perfect timing." After restricting SRH to to 143/8, MI's chase was without any major hiccups as Rohit guided his team to victory for a second successive match with 70 (46) and MI secured victory with 4.2 overs to spare to move to the third place in the standings. With his sublime 70 off just 46 balls, Rohit became only the second Indian after Virat Kohli to Score 12,000 runs in T20s.

Rohit Sharma "Doing A Fantastic Job Of Late": Mumbai Indians Star Praises Former Captain

Mumbai Indians' pacer Trent Boult has backed "world-class" Rohit Sharma to play a pivotal role in the team's pursuit for a record-extending sixth IPL title, following back-to-back half-centuries that signalled his timely return to form. The Kiwi left-arm pacer was instrumental in dismantling Sunrisers Hyderabad's famed top order, returning with a match-winning spell of 4/26 to cap MI's fourth straight win in emphatic style. After SRH collapsed to 143/8, MI, powered by Rohit's commanding 46-ball 70, chased down the target in just 15.4 overs.

SRH Coach Contradicts Pat Cummins' Take On Loss To Mumbai Indians: "Unfortunately We..."

Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Daniel Vettori admitted that a dramatic top-order collapse coupled with a wrong "assessment" of the pitch proved decisive in their a crushing defeat to Mumbai Indians. The big-hitting SRH top order slumped to 24/4 in the powerplay, and despite a fighting partnership between Heinrich Klaasen (71) and impact substitute Abhinav Manohar (43), the hosts could only manage 143/8, a total that proved woefully inadequate on a pitch that has already seen two 240-plus totals this season.

Ishan Kishan Dismissal Row: Did Umpire Make A Mistake? MCC Rule Explained

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians saw a bizarre incident as Ishan Kishan's dismissal sparked a major controversy. During the third over of the SRH innings, Kishan tried to play a delivery from Deepak Chahar towards the leg side but ended up missing it. Wicket-keeper Ryan Rickelton collected it behind the stumps and Kishan decided to walk back to the dugout despite no appeals from the MI players. On-field umpire Vinod Seshan was going to signal wide but decided to raise his finger in an instant as Kishan walked back. Kishan's decision left everyone stunned as replays showed that there was no edge involved in the incident.
