Ex-India Star In Contention To Become Spin Bowling Coach At BCCI's COE. Not Anil Kumble Or Harbhajan Singh

Former India left-arm spinner Sunil Joshi has thrown his hat in the ring for the post of spin bowling coach at BCCI's Centre of Excellence (COE) that was vacated by Sairaj Bahutule earlier this year. The COE was earlier known as the National Cricket Academy when it was based out of the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. It remains in the city but is now operational from a new location after BCCI purchased land to build a more expansive facility. Bahutule resigned to become an assistant coach in IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals.

IPL 2025 Playoffs Qualification Percentage: RCB 88%, DC 70%, MI And CSK At...

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season is gradually inching closer to its decisive stage. Though no team has officially been eliminated from the playoffs race, there are some who have already taken one step into the next round, while the race for others is still alive purely on the basis of mathematical permutations and combinations. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) boosted their hopes of a top-four finish with an impressive 6-wicket win over Delhi Capitals on Sunday.

BCCI Hints At Expanded 94-Match IPL. Reports Makes Big Claim On New Teams

IPL chairman Arun Dhumal said the BCCI is seriously considering to expand the league to a 94-match home-and-away format from the next media rights cycle, which falls in 2028. The IPL currently has the 74-match format ever since Gujarat Titans (GT) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) entered the fray in 2022. "Definitely, that might be an opportunity. We've been discussing in ICC, we've been discussing in-house in BCCI. Given how the interest of the fan is changing with regard to bilateral and ICC events, in regard to franchise cricket and T20 cricket, we'll have to talk more seriously about it and see how we can create maximum value for the stakeholders of the game."

IPL 2025: Which Four Teams Are Likely To Make the Playoffs?

It has been a fascinating 18th edition of the Indian Premier League. The biggest talking point of the season has been the dominance of the perennial underachievers and the poor performance of most of the powerhouses. Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings - who don't have even one IPL title between them - have set the stage on fire and been in the top cluster since the start of the tournament. Meanwhile, five-time winners - Chennai Super Kings, three-time champions - Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals - who have lifted the trophy on one occasion each - have been below par and struggled to build any sort of momentum in their campaign this season. And then there is Mumbai Indians - who had a disastrous start and looked down and out before staging one of the most remarkable turnarounds in IPL history!

Kevin Pietersen Sends Loud And Clear KL Rahul Message To Gambhir, Agarkar

KL Rahul is best placed to bat at number four and keep wickets for India in next year's T20 World Cup, believes Delhi Capitals mentor Kevin Pietersen. With his intent in the shortest format being questioned in the past, Rahul has tweaked his approach to be the leading run-getter for Delhi Capitals this season. The competition for the wicket-keeper-batter's slot in the national team is stiff with Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Dhruv Jurel and Ishan Kishan being the other options for the selectors.

Ex-India Stars Question Axar Patel-Led Delhi Capitals' Death Over Tactics vs RCB

Former cricketers Anil Kumble, Sanjay Bangar and Wasim Jaffer pointed out the tactical flaw in Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel's plan during the death phase of the second innings which led to their six-wicket downfall against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). During Delhi's attempt to defend its 162/8, the entire chase became a pulsating affair when the equation came down to 38 runs required from 24 deliveries. Mukesh Kumar bowled the 17th over, and the duo of Krunal Pandya and Virat Kohli managed to steal 12 runs away.
