Jharkhand's uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Kumar Kushagra was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 7.20 crore in the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai on Tuesday. Kumar Kushagra, initially listed at a base price of Rs 20 lakh, witnessed an intense bidding war among the franchises, ultimately resulting in Delhi Capitals successfully acquiring his services. At 19, Kumar Kushagra has garnered comparisons to the legendary Indian cricketer MS Dhoni, particularly for his adeptness at power-hitting. The right-handed batter had participated in a trial camp with the DC team before the auction. Kumar Kushagra rose to prominence following his impressive performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament earlier this year, amassing 111 runs in six matches for Jharkhand.
Opener Tony de Zorzi slammed a magnificent maiden hundred to complement a superlative effort by his team's bowlers, led by pacer Nandre Burger, as South Africa humbled India by eight wickets in the second ODI to level the three-match series 1-1 at Gqeberha in South Africa on Tuesday. The 26-year-old de Zorzi, playing only his fourth ODI, smashed nine fours and six maximums during his counter-attacking 122-ball 119 not out as South Africa completed the 212-run chase with 7.3 overs to spare.

Despite spending more than half of their purse amount on Starc, KKR finished the auction with nine more players in the bag. The two-time champions, however, pulled off one of the biggest bargains by signing young England pacer Gus Atkinson.
