"There's No Redemption": Rahul Dravid Takes 'Gentleman Stance' On Winning First Senior ICC Trophy

The great Rahul Dravid was not his usual restrained self after India's T20 World Cup glory and couldn't thank his wards enough for helping him live what he "wasn't lucky as a player" to experience -- the heady feeling of being a world champion. With head coach Dravid watching the action from the dugout, skipper Rohit Shama marshalled his resources beautifully as India held their nerve to eke out a seven-run victory over South Africa in a thrilling finale and win the T20 World Cup to end an 11-year ICC title drought.

Koi 'Ro-Ko' Na: In Triumph And Retirement, Rohit Sharma-Virat Kohli Stick Together

As characters, they are like chalk and cheese just as any 'vada pao' loving Mumbaikar and a 'chhole-bhature' craving Delhiite are expected to be. But for every graceful cover drive, there is always a pull shot executed with panache, and that's why Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, for the last decade and half, have complemented each other -- in dejection, triumph and now in T20 International retirement. Together, they make the word contrast come alive -- Kohli bringing in the darker shades with his dogged intensity in pursuit of excellence and Rohit with those pastel shades which manifest calm amid the storm.

India Fielding Coach Hails Suryakumar Yadav's "Awareness" During The Game-Changing Catch In T20 WC Final

Suryakumar Yadav was spot on with his decision-making and awareness while pulling off the game-changing catch in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa in Barbados, said India's fielding coach T Dilip. Needing 16 runs from the final over, the dangerous David Miller hit a wide full toss from Hardik Pandya but Suryakumar steadied himself on the ropes, caught the ball, released it just as he went over the boundary ropes and then came back in to complete an astonishing catch.

From MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar To Sunil Gavaskar, All Hail India's T20 World Cup Triumph

The who's who of Indian cricket fraternity, including Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar, hailed the title triumph in the T20 World Cup, saying it will inspire the country's "starry-eyed children to move one step closer to their dreams". India's first T20 world champion skipper Dhoni led the chorus of former and current cricketers, hailing Rohit Sharma's men for regaining the trophy after 17 long years after beating South Africa by seven runs in a pulsating final in Barbados on Saturday.

Fresh Video Featuring Suryakumar Yadav's Catch Triggers Debate, Fans Say "Robbed"

The T20 World Cup 2024 final turned out to be an epic contest between two unbeaten teams, as India and South Africa produced one of the most tightly-fought finals in the history of the game. South Africa looked to have sealed the win, with 30 runs needed from 30 balls, when Suryakumar Yadav produced a terrific 'clutch moment', bagging an incredible boundary-rope catch on a shot hit by David Miller to tilt the game in India's favour. The game was truly called match-defining but some fans feel Surya's foot had touched the rope while completing the catch.

"Haven't Spoken A Word": Crying Hardik Pandya Calls Out His Unfair Treatment Over Last 6 Months

Emotional India's star all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who was in tears after Men in Blue sealed T20 World Cup glory, opened up on the challenging six months leading up to the marquee event and said that he had kept quiet not speaking a word. Speaking to the broadcaster after the game, Pandya reflected on the previous six months and revealed that he had not lost his temper once when things were going wrong, which was precisely why the victory felt all the more meaningful. Mumbai Indians (MI) supporters and social media trolls had been very harsh to Pandya during the Indian Premier League 2024.

As Rohit Sharma-led India won the T20 World Cup trophy, the head coach Rahul Dravid's stint with the team comes to an end, and after the victory, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Roger Binny congratulated Men in Blue on their triumph and said it will be a good thing to Indian cricket team if the former opener Gautam Gambhir takes the role of India coach. India lifted the T20 WC trophy for the second time, defeating South Africa by just seven runs.

'Thought It Was Chaseable': "Gutted" Aiden Markram After South Africa's Loss In T20 World Cup Final

"Gutted" and "hurt" after South Africa's heartbreak in the T20 World Cup final, skipper Aiden Markram was aware that they could have won the game against India while hunting down 177, which they felt was a "chasable total". South Africa stood so close to the trophy yet ended up so far. They had a sniff at lifting their World Cup trophy when the equation read 26 runs needed in the final four overs. With Heinrich Klaasen bossing the spinners and David Miller waiting to open his arms on the other end, victory seemed just moments away from South Africa's grasp.
