It's been more than week since Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem pipped Neeraj Chopra of India to claim the men's javelin throw gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. Nadeem broke the Olympic record with a monstrous throw of 92.97m, and followed it up with another 91.79m throw in his final attempt. Defending champion Neeraj, on the other hand, could only manage 89.45m which saw him miss out on gold and had to settle for a silver. Meanwhile, former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has compared the rivalry between Arshad and Neeraj to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Samit Dravid, son of former India captain and head coach Rahul Dravid, showcased his power-hitting skills in the ongoing KSCA Maharaja T20 Trophy. Samit finally got some runs under his belt, scoring 33 off 24 balls for Mysuru Warriors in their match against Gulbarga Mystics. The 18-year-old also slammed a six in the 10th over of the innings. He picked up Praveen Dubey's googly and went inside-out to cover the ropes near the deep-cover region. A video of the same went viral on social media.

Mohammed Shami Likely To play First Couple Of Ranji Trophy Games For Bengal

Senior speedster Mohammed Shami, who is undergoing rehabilitation after an ankle surgery, is likely to make a comeback to competitive cricket for his domestic side Bengal in the Ranji Trophy, and a potential international appearance later in one of the Test matches against New Zealand. It is understood that Shami will play either one or both of Bengal's opening away Ranji match against UP on October 11 and the next one in Kolkata against Bihar on October 18. Since there will be only a two-day gap between both the games it is unlikely that he will play both.

With the Indian team's next assignment scheduled in late Septemeber, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced the four squads for the upcoming Duleep Trophy tournament, which will be played between September 5 and 24 in Anantapur. Top stars, minus Virat Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma, pacer Jasprit Bumrah and veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, will feature in the first round of the tournament.

Jharkhand needed 12 runs to win with two wickets remainining, and Kishan took the onus to guide his team to a win, smashing two sixes off Akash Rajawat in the 55th over of Jharkhand's second innings.

The BCCI on August 14 named the squads for the first round of Duleep Trophy 2024-25. With the four-team tournament set to start on September 5, India's wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant will be marking his return to red-ball cricket. Pant has been picked in 'Team B' and it is interesting to note that he has not been named the captain of the side. Instead, Abhimanyu Easwaran has been assigned the duty to lead the team. Former India cricekter Aakash Chopra has questioned BCCI's move regarding that, as years ago Pant was seen as the successor of Rohit in Test captaincy.
