Young all-rounder Musheer Khan, who survived a car accident while on his way to join the Mumbai team for the Irani Cup, expressed his gratitude to everyone who prayed for his recovery in his first public statement. Musheer, the right-handed batter who also bowls left-arm spin, suffered a fracture in his neck in a serious car accident while on his way to Lucknow from his hometown Azamgarh for the Irani Cup match beginning on October 1 against Rest of India. He was traveling with his father Naushad Khan when their car hit the divider and flipped a few times. The neck fracture will keep Musheer out of action for a few months, which means he will be unavailable for Mumbai in the Irani Cup and initial Ranji Trophy matches.

Former Pakistan cricket captain Mohammad Yousuf on Sunday stepped down as national selector citing personal reasons. Yousuf, who had been attached with the Pakistan Cricket Board in different roles since last year, was part of a broad-based national selection committee that includes two former Test players, head coaches, captains and an analyst, among others. In his post on 'X', Yousuf wrote, "I announce my resignation as a selector for the Pakistan cricket team due to personal reasons. Serving this incredible team has been a profound privilege, and I am proud to have contributed to the growth and success of Pakistan Cricket." A source close to Yousuf, however, said that the former batter was not happy with the criticism aimed at him in the PCB.

The IPL (Indian Premier League) Governing Council announced the retention rules ahead of IPL 2025 on Saturday. Each team have until 5 PM IST on October 31, 2024 to submit their full lists with the mega auction reportedly taking place towards the end of November. While each team can retain a maximum of 6 players, one of them need to be an uncapped star if they decided to use all the retentions. However, there is another rule in play in case of uncapped cricketers.
