"The Ideal Time...": Mithali Raj's Straight Verdict On Captaincy Change After Women's T20 WC Poor Show

Former India captain Mithali Raj has made an interesting comment on whether Indian women's cricket team needs a change in captaincy after their Women's T20 World Cup exit from the group stage. It was first time under Harmanpreet Kaur's long captaincy tenure that India failed to qualify for the knock-outs of the ICC mega event, extending the team's title-less run in world events and putting serious questions over her future in the team as captain. Mithali Raj was asked, "Harmanpreet Kaur has captained India in T20 World Cups since 2018 but the results have not come. Should the selectors move on from her and appoint someone younger."

Shakib Al Hasan Set For Test Farewell At Home, Included In Bangladesh Squad For 1st Test

Shakib Al Hasan is set for his last appearance in Test cricket in front of the home crowd as the venerable all-rounder was named in Bangladesh's squad for the first match against South Africa, starting on Monday. Before the second and final Test against India at Kanpur, Shakib had expressed his wish to play his final Test at home against South Africa, provided the Bangladesh Cricket Board was able to ensure his safety. Khaled Ahmed is the only omission from the squad that recently toured India. Shakib has been accused of being involved in the murder of a student but the Bangladesh veteran was taking part in a T20 league in Canada at the time of the incident.

Champions Trophy 2025 Without India Not An Option, Says Top ECB Officials

Top officials of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), including chairman Richard Thompson, have suggested that staging the Champions Trophy without powerhouse India is not an option and there are "contingencies available" if Rohit Sharma's team doesn't travel to host country Pakistan. India have not played in Pakistan since 2008 due to the tense relations between the two countries and their travel to the South Asian nation is solely dependent on government clearance. With the government unlikely to give the BCCI permission to send the team to Lahore, the Champions Trophy in a hybrid model seems the most likely option. Like the Asia Cup last year, India can play their matches in a third country while the other games can be staged in Pakistan.

Watch: Coach JP Duminy Is Required To Field For South Africa, Makes Epic One-Handed Save

In a rare occurrence in cricket, a coach stepped in to field for his side in an international match. On Monday, former South Africa batter and now batting coach, Jean-Paul Duminy, had to step in as a back-up fielder for his side as a fair few regular players of the side had walked off the field due to fatigue, during the final ODI against Ireland. With the heat in the UAE proving to be challenging for the players, Duminy stepped in as a substitute and even made an excellent one-handed save.

First Duleep Trophy and then the Irani Cup, Mukesh has been knocking on the selectors' doors for a while.
