The in-form duo of HS Prannoy and Lakshya Sen will be at the forefront of India's medal hunt at the BWF World Championships beginning in Copenhagen on Monday. All eyes will also be on Satwiksaraj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, the country's best doubles pair at world number 2, as they look to better the colour of the bronze that they claimed in the last edition. India have won 13 medals, including one gold, four silvers and 8 bronze medals since 1977 when the tournament first started before turning into a biennial event from 1983 to 2005. Chennaiyin FC defeated Delhi FC 2-1 on August 18 but what dominated headlines was the spat on the sidelines. Coyle and his assistant received yellow cards for the incident while Bajaj was ordered to leave the premises. Following the match, Chennaiyin FC registered a formal complaint with the Durand Cup organising committee and the All India Football Federation (AIFF) claiming that Bajaj made racist comments towards the English coach and his assistant.

Ahead of the start of his World Athletics Championships campaign, Indian Olympic gold medalist javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra said he is close to touching the 90-metre mark and needs just "one perfect day" with favourable weather conditions to attain that mark. The World Athletics Championships are currently ongoing in Budapest, started on August 19 and will conclude on August 27. Neeraj will be in action during the men's javelin throw qualification on August 25 and on August 27 in the final if he qualifies for it. Last year, he ended the country's long wait of 19 years for a medal at the championships with a silver in the men's javelin event.
