MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is one of the most successful teams in the history of the Indian Premier League. Prior to the ongoing season, CSK reached the final on nine occasions, and have lifted the title four times under Dhoni's leadership. On Tuesday, CSK reached the final for the 10th time after beating defeding champions Gujarat Titans by 15 runs in Qualifier 1. Notably, only Rohit Sharma (5) has won more IPL titles as captain than Dhoni.

With the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction set to take place later this year in Decemeber, MS Dhoni asserted that he has plenty of time to decide on his availability for next season. Dhoni's comments came after CSK reached their 10th IPL final after defeated holders Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 on Tuesday. Amid uncertainity over his future, fans have turned up in huge numbers to support Dhoni, and the former India captain has fuelled speculation by thanking the crowds who have turned up in large numbers home and away this season.

The veteran all-rounder put in important contributions in the match, both with the bat and the ball. After his cameo of 22 off 16 took the team to a challenging total of 172 runs, Jadeja picked up two wickets for just 18 runs in his 4 overs.

During the 16th over of the GT innings, the umpire did not allow Pathirana to bowl as he was not eligible for leaving the field. However, Dhoni had a prolonged chat with the umpires and almost four minutes were wasted due to the conversations and the resultant confusion. After an exciting league phase, the IPL 2023 playoffs started with the a high-profile Qualifier 1 between four-time champions Chennai Super Kings and defending champions Gujarat Titans.
