Having struggled to win matches the entire year, the Indian women's hockey team will look to start afresh in a new Olympic cycle by defending its Asian Champions Trophy (ACT) title at home, beginning with a clash against lower-ranked Malaysia in Rajgir, Bihar on Monday. India have won the title twice in 2016 (Singapore) and 2023 (Ranchi) in the seven editions of the tournament so far. After failing to qualify for the Paris Olympics, the Indian team lost 13 matches and won just two (with one draw) out of 16 in the women's FIH Pro League this year, but will hope to make a turnaround in their fortune with a strong performance in the ACT.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) that the team India would not be travelling to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy to be held next year. As per ESPNCricinfo, BCCI told ICC that the central government has advised it to not visit Pakistan for the eight-team competition, which is scheduled to be held from February 19 to March 9 next year. This latest development means that the ICC and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will now have to decide on another plan, which is likely to involve a hybrid model plan as a part of which India will play its set of matches at some other venue while the rest of the tournament takes place in Pakistan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has denied all media reports that claimed it agreed to a 'hybrid model' presented by the BCCI for the Champions Trophy 2025. According to the reports, BCCI proposed that the Indian cricket team will be playing its matches at a neutral venue and it was accepted by the PCB. However, PCB sources told Sports Tak that the two cricket boards have not spoken about the hybrid model at all and no such plans are being made for the competition. Pakistan have maintained that they want to host the tournament at - Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi.
