India's only representative in the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, Nitin Menon, has opted out of officiating in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan this month due to personal reasons. The ICC on Wednesday announced a list of 15 match officials, including three match referees and 12 umpires for the marquee tournament, scheduled to commence in Karachi on February 19 with the final on March 9.

India head coach Gautam Gambhir on Saturday asserted that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will have “massive roles” to play for the team in the upcoming Champions Trophy and said the batting stars add “so much value” to the nation's cricket. Now the fresh report says the captains' event was cancelled due to 'delayed arrival' of several teams. The report quoted ICC sources as saying England and Australia are arriving in Pakistan later than planned. England will reach Lahore on February 18, while Australia will arrive the next day. The Champions Trophy 2025 starts with a match between Pakistan and New Zealand. In such a scenario, a captains' meet is not feasible, said the report.
