Nikhat Zareen's dilemma: 50kg or 54kg for Paris Olympics

Nikhat Zareen will also have to move to a new weight category for the Paris Olympics in 2024 following the rejigging of divisions by the International Boxing Association (IBA). Nikhat, who competes in the non-Olympic 52kg category, will need to shift to 50kg or 54kg division for the Paris Games. IPL 2022, RCB vs GT: This was for the team, says Virat Kohli

His hard work at the nets has paid off: Mike HessonIt wasn't the vintage Virat Kohli on show on Thursday night at the Wankhede stadium, but the signature focus, intent and hunger to see his team through was on display. After a prolonged dry run with the willow, the former Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper shrugged off the rustiness with an assured 54-ball 73 (8x4, 2x6), an innings which helped RCB get past Gujarat Titans by eight wickets to stay alive in the competition.

I was worried her face would get scarred: Nikhat Zareen's mother

Parveen Sultana was worried about her boxer-daughter Nikhat Zareen's future. For any middle-class family, getting their daughters married is of primary importance and Nikhat's parents were no different. In fact, Parveen disliked her daughter's keen interest in boxing and tried to convince her to give up the sport. But for a free spirit like Nikhat, giving up her passion was not an option. But life in the lanes of Nizamabad, where she hails from, about 200 km from Hyderabad, was tough. There were no easy pickings and the rough, uncut diamond needed polish after Nikhat chose boxing over athletics just to prove a point - that she would one day become a world champion.

No point fretting over past...I am world champion: Nikhat Zareen

Maybe I'll get more real sense of it all when I return to India and meet my family, says the country's new world championNikhat Zareen has taught our world, hindered by patriarchy and tradition seeking, that scraped knees, a broken tooth and the occasional black eye can take a girl places. That these are not chains that bind you back as society expects. Instead these are wings on which you fly to your own sun. To each her own. " Kitney questions hain aapke, batao?" It is a drowsy, sleepy Nikhat who calls back from Istanbul, all because she had quietly promised to, without actually consenting. "I haven't slept since last night, the excitement of the thing, thinking about what will happen when I return to India. Tell me, who can sleep in all this madness? The hazaar interviews since morning. I haven't found a moment with myself alone," Nikhat Zareen complained, not bothering to stifle a loud yawn on Friday evening.
