Australia vs Pakistan: Spinner Mitchell Swepson to make Test debut in Karachi

Mitchell Swepson will make his Test debut in the second match against Pakistan in Karachi, captain Pat Cummins said on Friday. Fast bowler Josh Hazlewood will sit out with 28-year-old Swepson joining Nathan Lyon in Australia's two-man spin attack at Karachi's National Stadium on Saturday. "He's spent a lot of time running drinks over the last couple of years. He's absolutely ready," Cummins told a news conference. "He's been a huge part of the squad even though he hasn't been playing, so we're really excited to see him get a chance."

India vs Sri Lanka 2022, 2nd Test: Will Virat Kohli's wait for elusive 71st international ton end at Chinnaswamy?

Virat Kohli would hope for a turnaround at his 'spiritual home' when India take on an under-prepared Sri Lanka in the second Test, with the action unfolding under flood lights from Saturday. Interestingly, the last time Kohli reached a three-figure mark, it was a 'Pink Ball' game in which India thrashed Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs in Kolkata, back in November 2019. He had scored 136 back then. The former India skipper has taken strike in 28 innings since then but a Test hundred has remained elusive. The 33-year-old has got a 50-plus score only six times with highest being a knock of 79 against South Africa in Cape Town in January this year.

West Indies vs England 1st Test: Marathon man Nkrumah Bonner gives West Indies edge over weary England

Nkrumah Bonner's considerable reserves of patience and determination paid off with an invaluable second Test century as the West Indies closed the third day of the first Test against England at 373 for nine at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Thursday. Bonner's innings of 123 spanned more than nine hours and while it will hardly ever be remembered for any attacking style or quality of strokeplay, his effort earned the home side a first innings lead of 62 runs with one wicket in hand going into day four. More than the basic numbers of the match situation though, it could prove to be an important psychological edge, especially as England would have hardly expected to be toiling through an entire day's play after they separated the overnight pair of Bonner and Jason Holder within a few minutes of the start.

Cricket ball manufacturers unfazed by saliva ban being made permanent

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) on Tuesday, the permanent ban on saliva use on the cricket ball and the "Mankading" method of dismissal no longer being considered unfair play were two of the more talked about changes. Players have always used the traditional method of shining one side of the ball with saliva and sweat to help generate more movement in the air as it travels towards batsmen.
