IPL 2022: Gujarat Titans' Rashid Khan told Rahul Tewatia not to panic, focus on hitting next ball against Sunrisers Hyderabad

Gujarat Titans spinner Rashid Khan said on Wednesday that he told his batting partner Rahul Tewatia during the final overs of their chase against Sunrisers Hyderabad not to panic if they face a dot ball or two and instead focus on hitting the next ball and finishing the match. Half-century by Wriddhiman Saha (68) and fiery cameos by Rahul Tewatia (40*) and Rashid Khan (31*), guided Gujarat Titans to a thrilling five-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium here on Wednesday. The high-scoring match was settled in the last ball of the last over."I told Rahul (Rahul Tewatia), not to panic if we face a dot ball or two and instead focus on hitting the next ball and finishing the game," said Khan during a post-match discussion with all-rounder Rahul Tewatia and captain Hardik Pandya. Khan said that it felt good finishing on the winning side. Questioned on his consistent final over heroics, Tewatia said, "The good part is that the captain and coach are showing so much trust in me. It feels good to be on the winning side. My efforts will be that if such situations keep coming, we always finish on the winning side." Coming to the match, fifties from Abhishek Sharma (65) and Aiden Markram (56) and a last-over cameo from debutant Shashank Singh (25*) powered SRH to 195/6 in 20 overs.

IPL 2022, GT vs SRH: 'Will do it one day', says pace sensation Umran Malik on hitting 155 kmph

Umran Malik's five-wicket haul had almost sealed the deal for Sunrisers Hyderabad, but some brilliant late order hitting by Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan took the game away from SRH on Wednesday here at the Wankhede Stadium. Despite his team ending up on the losing side, Malik walked away with the Player of the Match award for his superlative effort. "The idea was just to bowl as fast as I can. The ground is slightly on the smaller side so the idea is to stay on the stumps, mix the pace and try to keep the ball within the stumps. [On targeting 155 kph] God willing if I have to bowl 155 kph, I will do it one day. But at the moment, all I want to do is bowl well," said Malik in the post-match presentation.

IPL 2022, SRH vs GT: Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson praises Umran Malik for 'outstanding performance' against Gujarat Titans

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson lauded SRH's impressive bowling against Gujarat Titans on Wednesday, as Umran Malik got his first five-wicket haul in IPL but that last over by Jansen proved to be the difference. SRH skipper said that he took the positives out of their game despite the five-wicket loss against GT at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The skipper also had words of praise for Shashank Singh, who smashed a quick 25 runs in 6 balls with one four and three sixes, taking the Sunrisers' score to 195/6. "It was a fantastic game of cricket that ebbed and flowed throughout the 40 overs, it's a game of very fine margins. Could have gone either way, but great learning for us. Another strong performance at the top of the table though. It was a fantastic finish by Shashank Singh, he played beautifully. Credit to Gujarat as they played outstandingly well, we'll take positives out of this game," said Kane Williamson in a post-match presentation.
