IPL 2022: 'Cannot look too far ahead' after string of losses, concedes CSK batting coach Michael Hussey

Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) batting coach Michael Hussey has conceded that the team cannot look "too far ahead", given that the defending Indian Premier League (IPL) champions have lost six of the nine games this season and are currently ninth on the points table, just above Mumbai Indians. The four-time IPL champions' campaign has floundered, chiefly because of the inconsistent batting at the top of the order, and they would be looking to put it across Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the MCA stadium here on Wednesday when the teams clash for the second time this season. Hussey, who is a long-timer with CSK -- previously as a player and now as batting coach, would be eyeing a second win against RCB after winning the opening encounter against them in the 'Southern Derby' by 23 runs last month. CSK had then put 216 on the board.

IPL 2022: The wicket helped us, says pacer Sandeep Sharma after Punjab Kings' win over Gujarat Titans

Punjab Kings pacer Sandeep Sharma said that the DY Patil track, which was "sticky" in the beginning helped their bowlers in the IPL game against Gujarat Titans, which they won by eight wickets. First South African pacer Kagiso Rabada snared four wickets to restrict Gujarat Titans to a below-par 143 for eight and then Punjab rode on flamboyant opener Shikhar Dhawan's unbeaten 62 to chase the target with 24 balls to spare. "Today the wicket (the track) also helped us. It was sticky in the beginning, which helped the new ball to move and the ball was holding on the wicket," Sharma, who returned with figures of 0/17, said at the post-match press conference.

On the first delivery of the over, he smashed Shami for the longest six of the season.

IPL 2022: Would like to string a few wins at this stage, says Mayank Agarwal after Punjab Kings' eight-wicket win over Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans (GT), Punjab Kings' (PBKS) skipper Mayank Agarwal said that his team would like to string a few wins at this stage of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season.. Kagiso Rabada's four-wicket haul (4/33) and Shikhar Dhawan's half-century (62 not out off 53) led Punjab to a convincing eight-wicket win over Gujarat at the Dr. D.Y Patil Stadium on Tuesday. IPL 2022, RCB vs CSK: Royal Challengers Bangalore batters need to fire against Chennai Super Kings

While the top order led by Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli has been inconsistent, the fulcrum of RCB's success was Dinesh Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed in the middle order. But with the duo in indifferent form in the last three matches, familiar batting woes have returned to haunt the team. RCB need to plug the holes to keep their campaign on track. With four games to go, their first check point will be Chennai Super Kings in Pune on Wednesday night.
