KL Rahul bats at his best when he has nothing to lose: Shane Watson

Watson wants the opener to play at the T20 World Cup beginning later this month. Rahul's strike rate came under scanner during the Asia Cup and the ongoing home series against South Africa. Though India had to chase down only 107 in the first T20 against the Proteas, questions were raised over Rahul's intent as he ended with 51 not out off 56 balls. Speaking to PTI, Watson said Rahul needs to be aggressive from ball one in the World Cup Down Under. "KL Rahul is one of my favourite batters. To me when he is batting at his best, when he is aggressive, he takes the game on and is not trying to control the game. "He has got that skill, when he is just reacting to the ball coming down, he has all the shots all around the ground against the best bowlers in the world. "I love seeing him when he feels like he's got nothing to lose, then he can even strike at 180 without taking too much risk. If he is able to do that (in Australia), there will be a lot of bowlers in trouble," said one of the best all-rounders to have played for Australia. Watson is currently in India for Legends League Cricket.

Nuwan Kulasekara (3/29) led the Sri Lankan bowling charts with his spell that provided both economy and key wickets. Chasing 196, it was only Ishan Jayaratne (51) who was able to provide a powerful resistance against Indian bowlers, led by Vinay Kumar (3/38).

India vs South Africa 2nd T20I: Uncertainties galore for Team India

Bumrah's injury has added to the confusion over team combination as hosts gear up for 2nd T2OI vs SAGUWAHATI: With the match scheduled in the middle of Durga Puja, the traffic in the city here, and around Barsapara Cricket Stadium in particular, on the eve of the second T20 International match between India and South Africa, was clogged. The situation quite resembled the state of India's team combination right now. With the upcoming T20 World Cup barely two weeks away, the ongoing series against visiting South Africa is a preparation for the big-ticket event, irrespective of the outcome of the bilateral series. However, as India were hoping to get the team combination right ahead of the ICC meet, Jasprit Bumrah's injury added to growing uncertainties.

Irani Trophy: Mukesh swings, Sarfaraz sizzles as Rest of India take control

At stumps, Sarfaraz's unbeaten 125 off 126 balls took Rest of India to 205 for 3 after Mukesh's swing and scorching pace from young guns Kuldeep Sen (3/41) and Umran Malik (3/25) demolished the 2019-20 Ranji Trophy Champions for a meagre 98 in 24.5 overs. In the presence of chairman of selectors Chetan Sharma and his colleague Sunil Joshi, Sarfaraz gave an exhibition of his wide array of strokes that included 19 boundaries and three sixes. Coming in when the Rest were tottering at 18 for 3, in the post lunch session, Sarfaraz played one of his most counter punching knocks to take the stuffing out of Saurashtra attack while adding 185 for the unbroken fourth wicket stand with Hanuma Vihari (62 batting off 145 balls).
