James Anderson has suffered a "mild strain to his right groin" just a month before the Ashes get underway, the England and Wales Cricket Board announced late Sunday. The 40-year-old Anderson, the most successful fast bowler in Test history with 685 wickets, sustained the injury on Thursday's opening day of Lancashire's County Championship match against Somerset at Old Trafford and took no further part in a match that ended in a draw on Sunday. The ECB added Anderson's fitness will be assessed nearer the time of the lone Test Test against Ireland at Lord's starting on June 1.
LONDON : England seamer James Anderson has suffered a groin injury playing for Lancashire and his fitness will need to be assessed before next month's Ashes warm-up test against Ireland, the England and Wales Cricket board (ECB) said late on Sunday.
England will monitor the fitness of James Anderson after the seamer suffered a groin injury during Lancashire’s draw with Somerset. While some of England’s star names are in the IPL, others are working on their sharpness in the County Championship ahead of an Ashes summer. Ad Anderson, 40, picked up 14 wickets in Lancashire’s opening three County Championship games, and took two more against Somerset on the opening day of the match.
