SINGAPORE: In a display of sportsmanship during a badminton match between Malaysia and Jamaica at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Malaysia's badminton coach Hendrawan was seen removing and passing his shoes to a player on the rival team.
The Indian mixed badminton team on Tuesday took home the silver medal after coming up short against Malaysia in the gold medal match. Kidambi Srikanth was not able to rise to the challenge and India eventually succumbed 1-3 to Malaysia. Srikanth lost to Tze Yong Ng in three games to put the defending champions on the backfoot in the summit clash. With this victory, Malaysia regained the title they had lost to India four years ago in Gold Coast.
The Indian contingent added two more gold medals on Day 5 of the ongoing Commonwealth Games on Tuesday. The women's four team first won a historic gold in the lawn bowls event, and this was India's first-ever medal in the sport. Sometime later, the men's table tennis team also returned with a gold medal. The mixed badminton team won a silver medal after losing the final against Singapore.

Olympic medalist PV Sindhu took a trip down the memory lane and shared a picture of her bronze medal, to mark the first anniversary of the Tokyo Olympics triumph. After facing a defeat in the semi-final clash against Tai Tzu-Ying of Chinese Taipei, Sindhu thrashed China's He Bingjiao 21-13, 21-15 in the bronze medal match at the Games last year. "A year since I stood on the Olympic podium representing a billion dreams. Still feels surreal. Nothing tops the feeling. #tokyoolympics #1yeartotokyo2020," wrote Sindhu on her Instagram account.
Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022 as Indian judoka Shushila Devi won the silver medal in the women -48kg category, her second in CWG history. On the fourth day of the multi-sports event, India clinched three medals -- one silver and two bronze. Besides Shushila, Vijay Kumar also won a bronze in the Men's 60kg division to give India a second medal in judo on the day. These were India's first medals outside the six in weightlifting that they have won so far, which include three gold.
India had a good Day 4 of the ongoing Commonwealth Games as India managed to make it to the finals of the women's four lawn bowls event, assuring themselves of at least a silver medal. Pugilist Amit Panghal progressed to the quarterfinals while Sushila Devi Likhmabam added another medal to India's tally, winning silver in judo women's 48kg event. Harjinder Kaur added a bronze as well to the weightlifters' tally. The contingent would now hope for a similar kind of day.
