'England The Toughest Place In World To Bat For Top-Three Batters: Usman Khawaja

Australia opener Usman Khawaja believes England's pitches are the ultimate Test for top-three batters and the only way to train for the conditions there is to work really hard and have very low expectations. Khawaja has struggled in English conditions, averaging just 19.66 from six Tests, which is a below-average showing from him given that he has scored an amazing 1,608 runs at 69.91 in 16 Tests since he was recalled to the Test side in January last year. The 36-year-old is expected to be in the thick of things during the World Test Championship final against India and the subsequent five-Test Ashes series in England.

Big Decision By ICC Ahead OF World Test Championship Final, 'Soft Signal' By On-field Umpires Scrapped

The ICC has decided to do away with the contentious 'soft signal' by on-field officials, which had often been criticised by experts as it is believed to have created more confusion for TV umpires after a decision was referred upstairs. The 'soft signal' was used to determine the validity of catches taken inches off the ground, which couldn't necessarily be confirmed through naked eye. According to ICC rules, a "soft signal is the visual communication by the bowler's end umpire to the third umpire (accompanied by additional information via two-way radio where necessary) of his/her initial on-field decision prior to initiating an Umpire Review."

On Report Of MI Offering Jofra Archer Year-long Contract, England Coach Brendon McCullum Breaks Silence

Former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum believes international boards would be "completely naive" to assume players would turn down lucrative offers from T20 leagues to play for their country. McCullum, who is currently the head coach of England's Test team, believes the cricketing landscape is rapidly changing and that the time is not far away when several players will opt for lucrative T20 leagues, instead of central contracts. His comments came amid reports suggesting that IPL teams are in talks with a number of English cricketers, including Jofra Archer, to sign annual deals.

"Was A Bigger Rival When...": Ricky Ponting's Frank Reply On His Equation With Delhi Capitals Colleague Sourav Ganguly

Australia dominated world cricket for more than a decade. During the same period, the team won three back-to-back ODI World Cup titles. In 1999, Steve Waugh led Australia to their second World Cup title, before passing the baton to Ricky Ponting, who outshined him with back-to-back World Cup triumphs in 2003 and 2007. During Australia's period of dominance, only Sourav Ganguly's India came closest to possessing a threat to them. Both Ponting and Ganguly had plenty of face offs, including the one during the Sydney Test in 2008, when the former claimed a controversial catch.

BCCI "Selectors Missed A Trick": Ex India Coach Anil Kumble On Star Getting Overlooked From WTC Final Squad

Former India captain Anil Kumble has said that the "selectors missed a trick" by not picking veteran wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha in the World Test Championship (WTC) final squad. While highlighting his exploits for Gujarat Titans in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kumble said that Saha's performances often get unnoticed by selectors. So far, Saha has scored 273 runs in 11 matches for GT, who sit at the top of the IPL 2023 points table.

On Rohit Sharma's Lean IPL Patch, Ex-India Star Mentions "Emotional Toll" Of Captaincy

Royal Challengers Bangalore batting coach Sanjay Bangar has backed India and Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma to come out of his current poor run of form ahead of the World Test Championship final next month. Rohit was dismissed for a mere seven -- his fifth single-digit score on the trot in this IPL -- against RCB but MI had no trouble in chasing down the target of 200 with 21 balls to spare for a six-wicket win here on Tuesday.

"Australia 450/2, India 65 All Out": Delhi Capitals Star's Prediction For 2023 World Cup Final

The 2023 World Cup will be a big affair for the Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team. Having not won an ICC title since the 2013 Champions Trophy under Dhoni, hosts India would be eager to end that drought. India head coach Rahul Dravid has already said that they have narrowed down to 17-18 players - amongst whom the World Cup squad is likely to be picked up. "We've narrowed it down to 17-18 players, we have a few guys who are recovering from injuries and might come into the mix, depending on the time frame of their recoveries," Dravid said in March.
