Australia's Glenn Maxwell Aggravates Injury Month Before World Cup 2023

Australia's star allrounder Glenn Maxwell is in a race against time as he continues to battle with a fresh injury with the ICC ODI World Cup just a month away. Maxwell ended up hurting his ankle during a training session in Durban while training for Australia's T20I series against South Africa on Wednesday and he will now fly home to be alongside his wife as they await the birth of their first child according to the ICC. Maxwell is expected to recover from his ankle injury in due time, but, national selector Tony Dodemaide has made it clear that no risks would be taken with the 34-year-old given his injury history that includes the freak leg injury he picked up at a friend's party late last year.

Pakistan Can Become No.1 ODI Team Before Facing India In Asia Cup. Here's How

Pakistan will be having a golden opportunity to take the number 1 ODI spot from Australia ahead of the Asia Cup 2023. When the Babar Azam-led side takes on Afghanistan in the third and final ODI match on Saturday, it could be a passageway for them to move to the number 1 spot from number 2. Currently, both Pakistan and Australia have a rating of 118 each to their credit, but the latter team's better overall points have helped it become the numero uno. However, if Pakistan manage to beat Afghanistan in the game on Saturday it will take their rating over to that of Australia. Since, rating is the first criterion of ranking, the overall points could not play any role once Pakistan win the game and improve their rating.

Will IPL Experience Help In ICC World Cup 2023? Australia Star's Clear Take

Marcus Stoinis will be key to the Australian middle order and will also have the responsibility of picking key wickets with the ball. With a fantastic behind him where he scored 480 runs at a strike rate of 170 plus for the Lucknow Super Giants, Stoinis is a confident man and is looking ahead to yet another successful World Cup campaign with the Australian team. “I tend to agree with you that we have a very good side. If you take a look at each department of the game, you will see Australia has all the bases covered. We have power hitters at the top of the order who can set the tempo, we have some fantastic batters in the middle order and then we have a good lower middle order who can make tangible contributions. With the ball, we have fantastic fast bowlers and some very good spin options. So it is a well-rounded team and I certainly would like to believe we will have a very good World Cup campaign. Having said that I don't think I agree with the tag of favourites. There are a number of teams which are very good and they have some very good players. So while we do have a very good side, these tags don't really mean much to us as players, ” said Marcus Stoinis on Australia's World Cup chances while speaking to Revsportz on Backstage With Boria show.

"People Were Focusing On Test": Pat Cummins On Controversial Stumping In Ashes 2023

Rewinding his thoughts to Alex Carey's controversial stumping of Jonny Bairstow during the recent Ashes, Australian captain Pat Cummins said the whole episode prompted fans to get actively involve in Test cricket. During Day 5 of the second Test at Lord's, England's Bairstow had dodged a bouncer from pacer Cameron Green and inadvertently walked out of the crease, and Carey hit the stumps at Bairstow's end. The on-field umpires, Ahsan Raza and Chris Gaffaney, went upstairs, and TV umpire Marais Erasmus declared the Englishman out.
