Sumit Antil Wins Gold In Javelin Throw, Becomes 1st Indian Man To Defend Title In Paralympics
Star javelin thrower Sumit Antil on Monday became the first Indian man and second from the country to defend the title as he won the F64 category gold with Paralympics record of 70.59m at the Paris Games. The 26-year-old world record holder from Sonipat in Haryana bettered his own earlier Paralympic best of 68.55m set in Tokyo while winning the gold three years ago.
Preethi Pal Scripts History, Wins Her Second Bronze Medal At Paris Paralympics
India's Preethi Pal won a bronze in women's 200m T35 category, her second medal of Paris Paralympics, with a personal best time of 30.01 seconds on Sunday. The bronze won by the 23-year-old Preethi was also India's second para-athletics medal in the Paris Games. T35 classification is meant for athletes who have coordination impairments such as hypertonia, ataxia and athetosis. On Friday, she had clinched India's first athletics medal in a Paralympics track event, winning a bronze in the women's T35 100m competition with a personal best time of 14.21 seconds.

Preethi became the first-ever Indian sprinter to win two medals at Paralympics. She had earlier bagged a bronze in Women's 100m T35 class. India will be winning more medals on the following day, that is Monday, as badminton stars Suhas Yathiraj, Nitesh Kumar and Thulasimathi Murugesan will be competing in their respective gold medal matches.
