"I don't know why they did not measure my first throw. Just after me, the second and third competitors had their throws and their distance were measured. I kept on asking what happened to my first throw," Chopra told reporters after winning gold medal on his fourth attempt.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced a cash award of Rs 1.5 crore for javelin thrower Kishore Kumar Jena from the state who has bagged a silver at the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in China's Hangzhou. With a personal best of 87.54 m, Kishore has also qualified for Paris Olympics, 2024. "The award is in recognition of his stellar performance, his perseverance and determination. I congratulate him on his win at the Asian Games and also qualifying for the Paris Olympics. Kishore's triumph not only reflects personal excellence but also serves as an inspiration for budding athletes across the country," Patnaik said in a statement.

A Belliappa and Man Singh will be in action during the Men's Marathon and medals in the event will be the perfect way to finish a marvelous campaign in athletics at Asian Games 2023. The wrestling campaign also continues with multiple wrestlers vying for medals while the archery will see two Indian teams looking to qualify for the medal rounds. Neeraj Chopra's first throw at the Asian Games 2023 was not counted by the organisers following a technical glitch during the men's javelin event. Neeraj looked in brilliant form as he pulled off a massive throw on the very first attempt and it looked like he has easily breached the 85m mark. However, confusion ensued among the event organisers as they were unable to measure the throw properly due to a technical glitch and as a result, Neeraj was asked to retake the throw. The first official attempt for Neeraj went for 82.38m and he followed it up with an even better attempt of 84.49m.

The Indian women's 4x400m relay team featuring Vithya Ramraj, Aishwarya Mishra, Prachi and Subha Venkatesan won the silver medal at the ongoing 19th Asian Games on Wednesday. Despite besting the previous Asian Games record time (3:28.68 in 2014 Incheon), the Indian quartet were outplayed by Bahrain, who secured the gold medal with a new record time of 3:27.65. Sri Lanka team won a bronze. Later in the men's 4x400m relay, the quartet of Anas Muhammed Yahiya, Amoj Jacob, Muhammed Ajmal Variyathodi and Rajesh Ramesh broke the national record to clinch India's 18th gold in the Asian Games.
