India's Naorem Roshibina Devi signed off with a silver medal after a 0-2 defeat against local heavyweight Wu Xiaowei in the women's 60kg wushu sanda final at the Asian Games, here on Thursday. The Indian found the going tough against Wu Xiaowei, the reigning champions in the category, allowing the Chinese to get off to a strong start. Wu was declared winners by the judges after two rounds.

India have so far won 24 medals (6 gold, 8 silver and 10 bronze) at the Asian Games 2023. Roshibana Devi lived up to the expectations of the Indian fans as she stormed into the Wushu 60kg finals and ensured another medal for India on Wednesday in the ongoing Asian Games. While facing a tough challenge in the form of Vietnam's Thi Thu Nguyen, Roshibana emerged victorious with a final scoreline of 2-0 in favour of the Indian. Roshibana will face now China's Wu Xiaowei in the final on Thursday. Hailing from Manipur, Roshibina has impressed with her performances. She stormed into the semi-final in the women's 60 Kg category on Monday, assuring the country of at least a bronze.
India's G Sathiyan and Manika Batra stormed into the mixed doubles pre-quarterfinals of the table tennis competition in the Asian Games on Wednesday. Sathiyan and Batra defeated Thailand's Napat Thanmathikom and Suthasini Sawettabut 10-12, 11-8, 11-3, 11-8. Later, Harmeet Desai teamed up with Sreeja Akula to overcome Macau's Chi Cheng Cheong and Hui Li Seak 12-10, 11-7, 11-7 to also enter the last 16 stage. Sathiyan and Batra made a rather cold start to the match losing the first game 10-12. Perhaps, stung by the loose game they dished out, the Indian pair showed more purpose in the second game.

The Indian men's squash team lost to Pakistan in their penultimate Pool A match on Wednesday but are firmly in contention to qualify for the semi-finals if they beat Nepal in the final game on Thursday. The top two teams from each pool qualify and despite the defeat at the hands of Pakistan, Saurav Ghosal and company are in sight of a podium finish. HANGZHOU, China: Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee president, who is leading the Kingdom’s delegation to the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, on Wednesday attended the Saudi team’s esports competition. The Saudi team reached the quarterfinals of the League of Legends game in the esports stadium, where they lost 0-2 to the Korean team. Committee Vice President Prince Fahd bin Jalawi attended the Saudi handball team’s game against Iran as part of the handball competition group stage. The Saudi team missed the chance to qualify for the second round after a 23-23 draw with Iran, which qualified along with Japan from the group. A total of 193 Saudi athletes will compete in 19 sports at the Asian Games, which conclude Oct. 8.
