Vandana (2nd, 16th, 48th minutes) scored three field goals, while Deep Grace (11th, 34th, 42nd) converted three penalty corners for India. Attacking opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal set the Asian Games stage on fire as the Indian team took on Nepal in the men's cricket quarter-final match. Jaiswal looked in fine form as he became the first Indian to score a hundred in the Asian Games 2023, reaching the triple-digit score in just 48 balls. In the process, Jaiswal also went on to break a record set by Shubman Gill who was the youngest to score a century for India in T20 international cricket.

The Indian team clinched a silver medal in the 4x400m mixed relay event in the ongoing Asian Games on Monday after the Sri Lankan team got disqualified for lane infringement. Initially, India claimed the third spot. The Indian team comprising Muhammed Ajmal, Vithya Ramraj, Rajesh Ramesh and Subha Venkatesan clocked 3:14.34s to claim the silver medal. Bahrain topped the chart with timing of 3:14.02s and Kazakhstan with their season-best timing of 3:24.85s claimed the bronze medal. Meanwhile, Indian athlete Ancy Sojan Edappilly bagged a silver medal in the women's long jump.
Asian Games 2023: Tejaswin Shankar Takes Pole Position In Men's Decathlon
India's Tejaswin Shankar took pole position on the first day of the decathlon events at the Asian Games 2023. Shankar asserted his dominance in the men's decathlon long jump. He scored 903 points from the first event with a distance of 7.37m. In the high jump, Shankar successfully cleared 2.21m and took 1002 points to maintain his position at the top. He finished first in the men's decathlon 400m event and moved to 4260 points, a 250-point lead over his nearest rival. India's good show in athletics continued with Parul Chaudhary and Priti securing silver and bronze medals respectively in the women's 3000-metre steeplechase.
