Jonny Bairstow's dismissal on Day 5 of the second Ashes Test between England and Australia sparked major controversy at Lord's with the Australian players getting booed by a major section of the crowd. During the 52nd over of England's second innings, Bairstow ducked a bouncer from Cameron Green and after the ball was safely inside wicket-keeper Alex Carey's gloves, he decided to leave his crease to have a chat with Ben Stokes on the non-striker end. However, the ball was not dead yet and a direct hit from Carey resulted in a massively controversial run-out. It is common practice among batters to inform the keeper or the umpire before they leave the crease after any ball but Bairstow did not do it on this occasion and Australia decided to not withdraw their appeal.

This is when the member said something to Khawaja and the duo confronted each other. Whatever be the words, it didn't please Khawaja for sure as the player was seemingly unhappy and irked. Australian cricketer Nathan Lyon was told by his skipper Pat Cummins not to bat with a significant calf strain in the ongoing second Test against England but the veteran spinner ended up doing that to "support" his teammates. Lyon, playing in his 100th consecutive Test, is suspected to have torn his right calf while running to catch a ball on day two of the second Ashes Test at Lord's. But on Saturday, he hobbled onto the batting crease and helped Australia add 15 runs to increase their lead to 370 runs.

But the off-spinner received a standing ovation from spectators at the 'Home of Cricket' after coming out to bat with Australia 264-9. For all his bravery, Lyon was still struggling to run.
