Sanju Samson was on Thursday appointed as the Kerala captain for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament, scheduled to be held from October 16 to November 6 across various venues. Kerala will open their Group B campaign in the tournament with a match against Himachal Pradesh in Mumbai. In the group, Kerala and HP will compete along with Sikkim, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Odisha, Services and Chandigarh. Neha Thakur, 17, led the show with a silver while Eabad Ali claimed a bronze, as India bagged two medals in sailing at the Asian Games at Ningbo, China on Tuesday. Neha powered India to the first medal of the day when she finished second in girl's dinghy ILCA-4 event. India's second medal came in the men's windsurfer RS:X event where Ali with a net score of 52 points came third behind Natthaphong Phonoppharat of Thailand and gold medallist Wonwoo Cho of Korea.

Neha Thakur, Adhvait Menon and Eabad Ali had successful outings in their respective sailing events of the ongoing Asian Games on Monday. Thakur, who finished third in girls' dinghy ILCA4 race nine, improved one spot to reach second after race 10 with an overall timing of 24:48. Menon finished third in boy's dinghy ILCA4 race 10. In race nine of the event, he was placed fifth but made significant gain to finish on a high. Ali also was placed at third in men's windsurfer RS:X event with a timing of 23:55 after race 12. Nethra Kumanan was placed fifth in women's single dinghy ILCA6.
