The Pakistan Cricket Board wants the BCCI to provide written proof of the Indian government's denial of permission in case the team refuses to come here for next year's Champions Trophy citing a travel ban on security grounds, a PCB source has said. The host Board also wants the matter to be sorted as soon as possible, given that the tournament is scheduled in February-March. While the ICC annual conference will be held in Colombo on July 19 doesn't have any discussion on 'Hybrid Model' about India playing their games in the UAE on its agenda, the global body as usual has earmarked additional fund in case it becomes a two-country tournament.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a firm stance on hosting the Champions Trophy 2025 entirely within its territory, dismissing any considerations for a hybrid model. In a tit-for-tat move, the PCB has reportedly threatened to pull out of the 2026 T20 World Cup, set to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, if the Indian team refuses to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. According to a Geo News report, the PCB is steadfast on hosting the entire tournament in Pakistan and will oppose any hybrid model proposals during the ICC's annual conference in Colombo from July 19-22.
Ever since Pakistan were awarded the right to host the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, a lot has been said and written about India's participation in the tournament. Cricketing relations have not been ideal between India and Pakistan due to the political differences between the two countries. While Pakistan did travel to India for the ODI World Cup last year, reports have claimed that the Indian government is unlikely to give clearance to the team for travelling to Pakistan. However, former Pakistan captain Salman Butt feels its their right to host the Champions Trophy, adding that India must travel to the country just like the rest of the participating teams.
In a historic move, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced that the inaugural Olympic Esports Games will take place in Saudi Arabia in 2025. This decision follows the recent proposal by the IOC's Executive Board and will be presented at the IOC Session ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The IOC has entered a 12-year partnership with the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Saudi Arabia to host the Olympic Esports Games. As per the official announcement, HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal, Minister of Sport and President of the Saudi Arabian Olympic and Paralympic Committee remarked, "The world is invited to join us in 2025 and celebrate this moment together."
The Champions Trophy 2025 that is set to be hosted completely by Pakistan has become a hot topic. It is the uncertainty of India's participation at the event that has made the major ICC tournament a talking point. Given that the entire event is being hosted by Pakistan, India would be needing to visit the nation in case it takes part in the event. The Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) reportedly requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to get the tournament shifted out of Pakistan or schedule India's matches at a neutral venue, but no development has been made on those lines by the apex cricket board.
