Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction for the upcoming season, former India pacer Irfan Pathan gave tips to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the 17th season of the tournament. While speaking at Star Sports, Pathan said that after adding Cameron Green to the squad, RCB have solved the headache of their middle order. Further Pathan said that the Bengaluru-based franchise need to sort out their bowling attack and if they can get Sri Lankan bowler Wanindu Hasaranga at a cheap price, then it will be good for them. The 39-year-old further added options for the franchise and said that if they fail to get Hasaranga, then they can go for Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Pathan praised Mujeeb and said that he is a mystery bowler with the new ball and can make a difference in tough conditions.
The second edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) is likely to follow a multi-city format similar to the IPL and the matches may be played across Mumbai and Bengaluru. All the matches of the inaugural WPL was played between March 4 and 26 earlier this year at the DY Patil Stadium and the Brabourne Stadium. “The final decision (about venues) might come on December 9 (the day of the WPL auction) but it is highly likely that this year it (WPL) will follow the multi-city format with Mumbai and Bengaluru being the front-runners at this moment,” a BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity. “The WPL was received well by the fans in the opening year, and it is the right time to take it to different cities. Bengaluru always has a good audience for women's cricket, and it has now grown because of the RCB women's team.” Mumbai and Karnataka cricket association officials too expressed readiness to host the matches, if indeed they come their way.

Delegates of International Cricket Council (ICC) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) have started a second inspection of the venues in the Caribbean and in the USA ahead of next year's T20 World Cup. The two-week review of the preparedness of the venues had started on November 30 and will conclude on December 15, stated a CWI release. ICC Head of Operations, Khushiyal Singh explained the areas the inspection team has been focusing over the fortnight. “Areas that will be assessed include pitch and outfield preparations, practice facilities, players dressing rooms, broadcast and media facilities, IT and security capabilities, hotels and guest houses...areas for fan parks, and other key components that are fundamental to the successful staging of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup,” said Singh.
