It was a massive occasion for veteran Indian cricket team spinner Ravichandran Ashwin as he played his 100th Test match as India took on England in the final game of the five-match series in Dharamsala on Thursday. Ashwin recently became the second India bowler ever to take 500 wickets in the longest format of the sport and as he took the field for his 100th Test, he made history by becoming the oldest India cricketer to achieve the milestone. Overall, Ashwin became the 14th India cricketer to play 100 Tests but the first one to do it after celebrating his 37th birthday. The others were - Sunil Gavaskar (125), Dilip Vengsarkar (116), Kapil Dev (131), Sachin Tendulkar (200), Anil Kumble (132), Rahul Dravid (164), Sourav Ganguly (113), VVS Laxman (134), Harbhajan Singh (103), Virender Sehwag (104), Ishant Sharma (105), Virat Kohli (113) and Cheteshwar Pujara (103).

Youngster Devdutt Padikkal made his Test debut for India on Thursday in the Dharamshala match against England. The 5th Test between India and England could be Ravichandran Ashwin's 100th but it was Kuldeep Yadav who mesmerised everyone with his stunning spell on Day 1 in Dharamsala. Kuldeep bagged a 5-for while the milestone-man Ravichandran Ashwin joined in late with a 4-wicket haul. What impressed everyone was the camaraderie between Ashwin and Kuldeep at the end of the innings after England were bundled out for 218. For a while, it couldn't be decided if Ashwin will be carrying the ball out as memento or Kuldeep.

Later, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma both scored half-centuries as the hosts took control of the match. Contrary to expectations, all 10 wickets went to the spinners at the scenic HPCA Stadium and the last seven batsmen fell while adding only 43 runs.

It was a sensational performance from spinner Kuldeep Yadav as he took a five-wicket haul to put India in control on Day 1 of the fifth Test match against England in Dharamsala on Thursday. The left-arm wrist spinner was in tremendous form as he finished with figures of 5/72 to bundle out England for just 218 after a solid start. In the process, Kuldeep became the fastest Indian cricket team bowler to take 50 Test wickets with respect to ball taken. Kuldeep took just 1871 balls to reach the milestone with Axar Patel (2205) and Jasprit Bumrah (2520) behind him in the list. This was also the first time in India's Test history that a bowler was able to complete 50 Test wickets by bowling less than 2000 deliveries.
