The incident happed after the final ball of the 39th over when Kuldeep convinced Rohit to take a DRS call after an lbw appeal against Ashton Agar was rejected by the umpire. Although Rohit took the DRS with a smile on his face, there was a sudden shift in his emotions as he lashed out at Kuldeep for some reason. It was not clear whether he was indulging in a banter or not.

Pacer Mohammed Siraj was on Wednesday dethroned from the top spot by Australia's Josh Hazlewood in the latest ICC rankings for ODI bowlers, as the Indian slipped to third place. Another Australian pacer, Mitchell Starc, who impressed during the first two ODIs of the three-match series in India, also moved up to join Siraj at joint third. Siraj, who returned with impressive figures of 3/29 to help India win the first ODI against Australia, was expensive in the second ODI giving away 37 runs in three overs and consequently lost his position as the top-ranked bowler.

The song ‘Lungi Dance' from the movie Chennai Express was playing as the India team took the field and Kohli could not control himself from breaking into a dance. Even Ravindra Jadeja joined in on the fun as India looked in a jovial mood.

Hardik Pandya haulted Australia's fine start in the third ODI with three crucial wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. With the series tied at 1-1, Australia opted to bowl in the decider. Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh, who fired Australia to a 10-wicket win in the previous match, once again opened the innings for Australia. The pair added 68 runs for the opening wicket before Hardik provided India with a breakthrough, dismissing Head on 33. However, prior to his dismissal, Head received a huge reprieve as Shubman Gill dropped an easy catch off Hardik's delivery.
