West Indies Star Nicholas Pooran Fined Heavily For Criticising Umpires During 2nd T20I vs India

West Indies' wicketkeeper batsman Nicholas Pooran, the hero of their two-wicket victory over India in the second T20 International, on Monday has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for publicly criticising the umpires during the match in Guyana. Pooran's was a Level 1 offence and he was found to have breached Article 2.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct for players and player support personnel, which relates to "public criticism in relation to an incident occurring in an international match".

On Going For Tattoos, Tilak Verma Reveals Coach's Advice To First Reach A 'Particular Level'

Young Indian batter Tilak Varma said that he wants to perform well, give his 100 per cent and focus on his basics and strengths during his first-ever international series against West Indies.  Tilak is part of the T20I Indian side which is playing the five-match series against West Indies at the Caribbean. The second T20I will take place on Sunday in Guyana. India is trailing 0-1 in the series. Tilak had scored a solid 39 in 22 balls in his debut T20I.

"Time Running Out": Sanju Samson Falters Again, Gets Stern Warning From Ex-India Star

It's been a curious case for Indian wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson, especially in T20Is. Whenever he is not in the team, chatter over his absence rattles the Indian cricketing spectrum. On occasions where he is selected, inconsistent performances leave his fate hanging in the balance again. After Samson failed to leave his mark in the 2nd T20I against West Indies too, former India cricketer Parthiv Patel feels time might be running out for the talented cricketer from Kerala.

Hardik Pandya Slammed Over 'Baffling' Yuzvendra Chahal Decision In 2nd T20I Against West Indies

It was yet another disappointing day for Team India as they lost the second T20I against West Indies by two wickets on Sunday. With this loss, the Hardik Pandya-led side has gone down 0-2 in the five-match series. Opting to bat first, Team India posted a total of 152/7 with Tilak Varma scoring a half-century. Later, West Indies comfortably chased down the target in 18.5 overs as Nicholas Pooran scored 67 off 40 balls. After the match ended, several former cricketers and fans slammed skipper Hardik for his poor decision-making.

"Winning Series Like These...": Ex-India Star's Stern Warning To Hardik Pandya And Co

Team India suffered a narrow defeat to West Indies in the opening game of the five-match T20I series on Thursday. Chasing a target of 150, the visitors suffered a batting collapse and were restricted to 145/9 in 20 overs, courtesy some fine bowling performances from Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd. Barring debutant Tilak Varma, who looked set for a big total, rest of the Indian batters failed to impress on a batting-friendly deck. The case in the 2nd T20I was no different. Following the defeats, India captain Hardik Pandya was heavily criticised for his tactics.

Hardik Pandya Reminded Of "Unique" Comment After 'Captaincy Blunder' Cost India 2nd T20I

Team India has been facing severe criticism after the two-wicket defeat against West Indies in the second T20I on Sunday. The most amount of backlash was directed towards skipper Hardik Pandya, who was severely criticised for his poor decision-making. After being restricted to 152/7, the visitors bounced back with the ball as Hardik and spinner Yuzvendra Chahal took three and two wickets respectively. However, it was Nicholas Pooran's 67-run knock that guided West Indies to victory in just 18.5 overs.

Mumbai Indians star batter Tilak Varma left everyone utterly impressed with his maiden international half-century on Sunday. Varma achieved the milestone during the second T20I match between India and West Indies, where the visitors faced a defeat by two wickets. Opting to bat first, Team India could only post a total of 152/7 in 20 overs and West Indies bowlers brilliantly dominated them. Later, the hosts chased down the target in just 18.5 overs with Nicholas Pooran scoring 67 runs.

India's Top-Order Under Pressure In Must-Win Game, Spinners Need To Stop Nicholas Pooran's Attack

India will need to bat with the fearlessness they often talk about as they look to avoid a series defeat in the third T20 International against the West Indies in Guyana on Tuesday. The slow pitches on offer have not been the best for batting but as skipper Hardik Pandya pointed out after the loss on Sunday, India should have a found way to score additional 10-20 runs. India, who last lost to the West Indies in a bilateral T20 series back in 2016, trail 0-2 in the five-match series. The shortest format demands the batters to go hard from ball one and that is something India's top-order, comprising Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav, have not been able to do.
