"Shikhar Dhawan Is Still A Force...": Ex-India Star On How Star Batter's 'Graph Has Gone Up With Age'

Shikhar Dhawan is now being considered for only one format - the ODIs. Despite consistent performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL), he is no longer considered for the T20Is. Dhawan is six months shy of turning 37 but is still going strong on the cricket field. With the 2023 ODI World Cup next year at home, Dhawan would be eager to maintain his form and be picked in the squad. Former Indian cricket team player Sanjay Manjrekar feels that Dhawan has a lot to contribute to Indian cricket.

Reece Topley Topples India, England Win By 100 Runs To Level ODI Series 1-1

Indian top-order fell like ninepins as Reece Topley's 6 for 24 headlined a fine England bowling performance in a series-levelling 100-run win while defending a modest target in the second ODI at the Lord's on Thursday. With parity restored in the three-match series, the decider at the Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday promises to be a mouth-watering contest. When the Indian bowlers put up another impressive show to bowl out England for 246 in 49 overs, little did one know that the visiting batters would inexplicably implode for a paltry 146 in 38.5 overs in the face of nice seam and swing bowling from Topley.

Yuzvendra Chahal Takes 4-Wicket Haul vs England, Breaks Mohinder Amarnath's 39-Year-Old Record At Lord's

Yuzvendra Chahal's clever variations complemented by Hardik Pandya's steady fast medium bowling saw India bowl out England for a manageable 246 in 49 overs in the second ODI at the Lord's on Thursday. However, it was Moeen Ali (47 off 64 balls) who took the attack back to the opposition camp with his audacious hooked and pulled sixes interspersed with slog sweeps as England's total had some semblance of respectability after the feared top-order promised much but delivered little.

Watch: Yuzvendra Chahal Cleans Up Jonny Bairstow, Traps Joe Root And Ben Stokes LBW

Yuzvendra Chahal was in great form in the second ODI against England as he scalped the wickets of Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali. Bairstow was his first victim as he bowled him out. Then he trapped Root and Stokes plumb in front of the wicket. Also, he got Moeen Ali. Chahal's solid performance meant that India are in driver's seat in the second ODI. If India win the second match, they will take un assailable 2-0 lead in the series.

"Go Sit On A Beach": Ex-England Captain Says Virat Kohli "Needs A Sabbatical"

Former England captain Michael Vaughan feels out-of-form India batter Virat Kohli should take "three months break" from cricket, and spend some time with his family. Kohli, who has not scored a century in nearly three years, managed scores of 11 and 20 in the recently-concluded fifth Test against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Highlighting Kohli's poor returns with the bat of late, Vaughan said that the 33-year-old batter needs a sabbatical from cricket, which will help him re-invent himself.

"Has Gravitas For International Cricket": Ex-BCCI Selector On Shreyas Iyer

Right-handed batter Shreyas Iyer has loads of talent but over the course of last two years, he has developed a weakness against the short ball and the opposition uses that tactic whenever the batter comes out to the crease. Shreyas' KKR coach Brendon McCullum was seen given signals to England bowlers to bowl short balls at him and the batter was dismissed through that ploy in both the innings of the recently-concluded Edgbaston Test which India lost by seven wickets.

England vs India: Rohit Sharma Achieves Huge T20I Captaincy Record With India's Win Over England In Southampton

Rohit Sharma on Thursday became the first captain to win 13 T20I matches in a row. The Indian skipper registered the record after India's 50-run win over England in the first T20I of the three-match series at The Rose Bowl, Southampton on Thursday. It is worth noting that Rohit is yet to lose a T20I match as India captain since getting the role on a full-time basis after Virat Kohli stepped down from the post. The 13-match winning run for Rohit started with the series against Bangladesh before India defeated New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka and England under his leadership.

Virat Kohli Requests To Be Rested From West Indies T20Is: Report

Star batter Virat Kohli himself asked for rest from the entire series against the West Indies, including the five T20Is, according to sources in the BCCI. It is also understood that the T20 squad for the tour of West Indies will be announced on July 11, one day after the shortest format series against England concludes. "It was team management's decision to rest Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah for the ODI series along with skipper himself," a senior BCCI source in the know of things told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
