The Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team has landed in Trinidad for a five-match T20I series starting on July 29. The series is part of the T20I contests that Team India will play in the lead up to the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia in October-November. In a video, posted by the BCCI on its social media handles, it can be seen that skipper Rohit, Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar reaching the team hotel and being greeted by the support staff. Ahead of the T20I series, the Indian cricket team is currently playing in an ODI series against the Windies, without most of the senior players.

Notably, Gill got a bottom edge of his bat on the delivery of Kyle Mayers while he was trying to play a scoop shot. Mayers comfortably completed the catch on the follow up to claim his wicket.

Shreyas Iyer also played a 63-run knock and after the game, he talked about the mood within the Indian dressing room and how head coach Rahul Dravid was "getting tensed".

Left-handed batter Axar Patel was at his best in the second ODI against West Indies as he played an unbeaten knock of 64 runs off just 35 balls to help India win the match by two wickets to gain an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. In the final over, India needed 8 runs to win with Axar and Mohammed Siraj at the crease, and Kyle Mayers had the ball in his hand. On the fourth ball of the over, Axar hit a six, winning the match for India.

Team India on Sunday put up a spirited show to edge past West Indies by two wickets in a last-over thriller. Chasing a 312-run target against West Indies in the second ODI of the three-match series at Queen's Park Oval, Trinidad, India got home with just two balls to spare. Axar Patel played an unbeaten 64-run knock off 35 balls to take the side home despite the required run rate rising to 10 runs per over towards the end of the game.

Needing six off last three balls, Patel clobbered Kyle Mayers straight over the bowlers head for a six as India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Patel smashed five sixes and three fours in his unconquered innings and added 51 off 33 balls with Deepak Hooda (33) to keep India in the hunt.
