Vinesh Phogat made the headlines on Tuesday with two memorable wins at the Paris Olympics 2024 which saw the champion wrestler go close to a first medal at the Games. It was sort of full circle for Vinesh Phogat, who was a leading face in the protests that happened last year against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. PARIS :Fans came to watch the queen of sport climbing perform her magic at the Paris Olympics on Tuesday and Slovenia's Janja Garnbret did not disappoint as she finished top of the women's boulder semi-finals in style.
The Indian wrestler and Olympian Vinesh Phogat delivered a stunning performance in her maiden bout of the Paris Olympics 2024 campaign as she defeated the top seed and the Tokyo 2020 champion Yui Susaki of Japan in the women's 50kg freestyle round of 16. Susaki was leading 2-0 before the dying seconds of the game, right before Vinesh took her by surprise. The Indian wrestler produced a dramatic turnaround, in the second period, leaving her Japanese opponent stunned. Susaki, astounded by Vinesh's move, suffered a 3-2 defeat, as the Indian made it to the quarter-finals. Susaki decided to review the final move by Vinesh but the referees ruled the decision in the Indian's favour.

Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley has announced that he will step down after the upcoming season, following nearly 13 years working in Australian cricket, including five years as CA CEO. "This was a difficult decision. However, following what promises to be a blockbuster summer and with our five-year strategic plan well progressed, this is the right time to pursue another challenge while giving the Board plenty of time to find its next CEO to build on the strong foundations now in place. This is not the time for goodbyes, as I remain completely focused on the season ahead and supporting the Board on succession and a smooth transition," said Hockley, as quoted by a Cricket Australia media release.
