Según explica el directivo de LaLiga, esta situación lo que demuestra es que «las pérdidas del Barcelona son mayores que la capacidad que tiene para obtener beneficios»: Al tener excedido este límite salarial, no pueden fichar jugadores durante los mercados salvo por una vía, la que decreta el artículo 100. Dicha norma lo que obliga a los clubes con un límite salarial excedido es que deben ahorrar para buscar un equilibrio económico que les haga ser solvente y, por ello y para ser competitivos, solo se les permite gastar el 25% de los ingresos que obtengan.
