JEDDAH: The Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation’s CEO Sattam Al-Hozami crowned the winners of the various categories of Rally Jeddah Toyota 2023, which concluded on Saturday. SAMF’s head awarded the rally champion Yazeed Al-Rajhi the title in the “T1P” category during the closing ceremony which took place at the King Abdullah Economic City. Lionel Baud came in second place, said a media statement. Meanwhile, Khaled Al-Feraihi won the title in the “T1” category, with Almashna Al-Rimali and Abdullah Al-Haydan finishing in second and third places, respectively. Jaafar Al-Qahtani secured the title in the “T2” category against Khaled Al-Hamzani and Abdullah Debshi Al-Sind, while Saleh Abdullah Al-Saif achieved the title in the “T3” category ahead of Dania Akeel and Nicolas Cavigliasso. Yasir bin Seaidan soared to the title in the “T4” category, followed by Maha Al Hamli and Abdullah Al Shegawi, and Teruhito Sugawara clinched the title in the “T5” category ahead of Ibrahim Al-Muhna and Tariq Al-Rammah. Moreover, Al-Hozami also crowned the winners in the Bikes categories, which resulted in Haytham Al-Tuwaijri achieving the title in the Quads category, followed by Hani Al-Noumesi and Emiel Stuckens. Badr Al-Hamdan won the title in the Bikes under 450cc category, ahead of Abdulhalim Al-Mughira and Mishal Al-Ghuneim, while Philip Horelmann led the Bikes over 450cc category. The Rally Jeddah Toyota is the final round of the 2023 Saudi Toyota Desert Rally Championship, organized by SAMF in cooperation with the official partner Abdul Latif Jameel Motors, strategic partner the Saudi Investment Bank, and the Ministry of Sports. JEDDAH: The 37th America’s Cup yacht race started in Jeddah for the first time on Wednesday with the participation of six teams. The second preliminary sailboat race continues until Dec. 2 at the Jeddah Yacht Club, under the organization of the Saudi Sailing Federation and in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports, a media statement said. In this first-of-its-kind round outside Spain, the teams will compete to reach the podium and win the qualification round for the final, which will feature only two teams. American Magic team won the round in Vilanova, northern Spain, in September with a slight lead over the other teams. ABU DHABI: Max Verstappen took pole position for the season-ending Abu Grand Prix on Saturday and will look to finish a crushingly dominant year with a 19th win. Victory on Sunday would take the Red Bull driver onto 54 career wins, past former Red Bull star Sebastian Vettel and into third place all time. “It’s been a very special season and we’ve been enjoying it a lot,” Verstappen said. “Very proud of what we have achieved.” The three-time F1 champion’s 12th pole of the season took him to 32 overall.

RIYADH: Al-Ahli men’s volleyball club defeated Damac in a match held at the Ministry of Sports Hall in the Prince Faisal bin Fahad Olympic Complex during the Saudi Games 2023 competitions. Al-Hilal defeated Abha by three sets to one, before Al-Ittihad beat Al-Khaleej by a similar result. In the women’s volleyball competition, Al-Ahli won against Al-Ittihad in three clean sets. Similarly, Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, and Al-Anqaa secured victories against their respective opponents.
RIYADH: For the first time in its history, Riyadh will host the forum and the electoral General Assembly of the Asian Paralympic Committee, with the participation of more than 200 attendees representing 45 Asian countries. Several heads of international and regional Paralympic federations are also expected to attend the four-day forum, according to a media statement on Friday. Prince Fahad bin Jalawi, the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee’s vice president, will inaugurate the forum’s first day on behalf of SOPC’s President Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal. There will be speeches from SOPC, and Majid Rashid, president of the Asian Paralympic Committee, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Meanwhile, Prince Abdulaziz will be awarded the honorary prize for his service to Paralympic sports in the Asian continent. The first day’s evening witnesses the ceremony for the Asian Paralympic Committee Awards in its seven categories, in addition to a dinner in honor of the delegations participating in the forum and the General Assembly. Rashid will preside over the committee’s General Assembly on Nov. 28. Members of the assembly will witness the opening ceremony of the Saudi Games 2023 at 7:30 p.m.
