Al Hilal Set World Record To Reach Asian Champions League Semi-Finals

Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal set a world record for consecutive victories with their 28th win in a row to reach the Asian Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday. A 2-0 victory at fellow Saudi side Al Ittihad saw them surpass the previous record of 27 straight wins by a top-flight team, set by Welsh team The New Saints in 2016. Riyadh-based Hilal, already the most successful team in AFC Champions League history with four titles, went through 4-0 on aggregate in Jeddah.

Injury blow as Green Falcons prepare for Asian qualifiers

AL-AHSA: An injury to winger Salem Al-Dawsari has hit the Saudi national team’s preparation in Al-Ahsa for the second stage of Asian qualifiers to the 2026 World Cup and 2027 Asian Cup. The Green Falcons’ head coach Roberto Mancini has given Al-Dawsari permission to leave the side’s training camp to receive treatment on an ankle injury that the player received while playing for Al-Hilal against Al-Taawoun. The player was ruled unfit to participate in upcoming qualification matches following checks by the team’s medical staff, and will now receive treatment at his club. However, Al-Hilal’s Hassan Al-Tambakti is back in training after suffering health issues on Monday, although teammate Yasser Al-Shahrani was missing from the session due to muscle pain. The Green Falcons were expected to continue their program with an evening training session at Al-Fateh Sports Club at 5:30 p.m.

Neymar, six goals and first place on perfect evening for Al-Hilal

The question before the game was ‘will he or won’t he’ but more important than whether Neymar would make his debut in Saudi Arabia on Saturday evening was Al-Hilal thrashing Al-Riyadh 6-1 to go back on top of the Saudi Pro League above champions Al-Ittihad in the most emphatic of styles. It is a case of so far so good for the 18-time champions who now have 16 points from the first six games. It was a regulation win but it was a bit more than that.

Final heartbreak for Al-Hilal who wonder what might have been

On Saturday, Al-Hilal lost the Asian Champions League final for the third time in a decade. The record books will show that Urawa Reds won the second leg 1-0 to take the tie 2-1 on aggregate but what won’t be as clear was that — just as in 2014 against Western Sydney Wanderers and three years later against the same Japanese opposition — the Riyadh giants could have been the ones lifting the trophy.
