Michelle Gisin of Switzerland found the best all-around form on the day in the women’s Alpine skiing combined event, overcoming a slow downhill finish to make up time in the slalom portion and claim her second-straight Olympic gold medal in the event.
Mikaela Shiffrin recorded her third DNF of the Winter Olympics as Michelle Gisin defended her combined crown in emphatic style. The American was fifth after the downhill but was left shell-shocked in the slalom after seeing another event slip away before the finish line at Beijing 2022.
Christine Scheyer leads the way in the women’s combined after posting the fastest time in the downhill at the Winter Olympics, but favourite Mikaela Shiffrin and the remarkable Ester Ledecka remain in contention going into the slalom.
