Bad News For Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore! Star All-Rounder To Miss Part Of IPL 2023

Ahead of his side's Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 opener against Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) head coach Sanjay Bangar said that Sri Lankan all-rounder will be available for the side only after April 9 due to his international cricket commitments. RCB will take on MI in their IPL 2023 campaign opener on Sunday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. "Wanindu Hasaranga will be unavailable for us till the ninth of this month," said Bangar in the pre-match press conference. Hasaranga was the leading wicket-taker for RCB last season and was the second-highest wicket-taker overall with 26 scalps in 16 matches at an average of 16.53 and an economy rate of 7.54. His best bowling figures in the last season were 5/18.

Asian Champions Sri Lanka Grab Centre Stage In T20 World Cup Opener

A confident Sri Lanka open the Twenty20 World Cup on Sunday fresh from being crowned Asian champions, but face negotiating a tricky preliminary round to join the big guns in the main draw. They kick off the global showpiece in Geelong against a Namibian team looking to spring another surprise after making the Super 12 stage on their tournament debut last year. Originally scheduled to take place in 2020 before being moved because of Covid, the eighth edition of the event begins with a double-header at the 36,000 capacity Kardinia Park outside Melbourne.

"Like Lasith Malinga...": Mahela Jayawardene's Huge Praise For Star Allrounder

Sri Lankan batting legend Mahela Jayawardene is mighty impressed with the rise of Wanindu Hasaranga as he sees traits of pace bowling great Lasith Malinga in the 25-year-old spin allrounder. Hasaranga, who plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League, hogged the limelight in the 2021 T20 World Cup in UAE when he topped the charts with 16 wickets -- the most in a tournament. He then played an instrumental role both with the bat and ball in their Asia Cup triumph to rise to world number 4 in the allrounder's rankings.

"Be Very Careful Against Him": Muttiah Muralitharan Warns Batters At T20 World Cup Facing This Bowler

Sri Lankan great Muttiah Muralitharan on Thursday sounded a warning to the teams ahead of next month's T20 World Cup, saying they will have to be careful against Wanindu Hasaranga as the mystery spinner would be a threat on Australian pitches. Hasaranga took nine wickets to power his team to the Asia Cup title win and Muralitharan said he would be one to watch out for during the T20 World Cup. "He's a great T20 bowler. Last 2-3 years, he's done really well. He's a young guy," Muralitharan told reporters in an interaction on the eve of the second edition of the Legends League Cricket.

"From Outside, Anyone Can Give Comments": Pakistan Coach Defends Mohammad Rizwan's Approach

Sunday came as a disappointment for Pakistan's fans as their side faced a 23-run defeat in the summit clash of Asia Cup 2022 against Sri Lanka, at Dubai International Stadium. Pakistan, who were playing for their third Asia Cup title, were bundled out at 147 in the chase of 171 runs. There were low points in the match for the Babar Azam-led side but wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan's slow knock of 55 runs off 49 balls, utterly disappointed the fans and cricket pundits alike. The batter received a lot of flak from a section on social media but on a positive note, Pakistan coach Saqlain Mushtaq came in his defense and said that nobody from outside knows what goes inside a dressing room and in a player's mind.
